    Hi everyone!
    Sharing and documenting my new car. 2001 Silver B5 A4 TQM Eliminator. 158000km

    I got the car about a month ago and I absolutely love every second I drive and look at it. The PO was a 34 year old guy who had no more time for it. I saw that it had been a few months it was up for sale and took a chance by asking him if he would lower his price. Sure enough he was willing to negotiate and I got a great deal on it!

    ENGINE:
    Unitronic BT 630cc @20psi
    GT2871R Eliminator
    034 High Flow Exhaust Mani
    3" VBand Turbo-Back (034 HFC and back to back magnaflow mufflers)
    630cc Injectors
    Bosch 044 Fuel Pump
    3" 034 TIP + TT225 MAF
    034 FMIC Kit
    Forge 007 DV
    XS Turbo MBC
    FSI Ignition Coil conversion
    NGK BKR7E
    Southbend Stage 3 Clutch
    Custom "cold air intake"

    CHASSIS/SUSPENSION:
    034 Diff Carrier w/ street density bushings
    034 Density engine,trans,subframe mounts/bushings
    Koni Coilovers
    Upgraded Front Control Arms and Tierods
    B7 A4 Titanium Pack 18" Wheels (18x8 ET43)
    Nexen N1000 235/40zr18 summers
    Bigger front rotors (audi A8 w/ TT carriers) w/ Hawk pads
    S4 rear brakes w/ Hawk pads
    S4 front and rear swaybars

    EXTERIOR:
    Depo Projector Headlights
    Ebay RS4 Grill
    Full LED conversion

    INTERIOR:
    JVC Touch/BT Radio
    Upgraded Speakers
    VDO Boost Gauge
    Full LED conversion
    Carbon wrapped trims

    Since I got it i've regapped the plugs.. they were at .045".. the PO was telling me that its better but all i've read even with guys who have stronger coils and high boost is that they run .028" - .030".. so I put them to 28! No wonder it had misfires in the inactive codes lol.
    I also bought an ebay rs4 grill which I find gets the job more than done!

    Also picked up S4 sway bars for 60$!!
    Cleaned and painted;

    Only have the front sway bar on at the moment and I really see the difference with between the A4 and S4 bar.
    The car came on 17" rs4 reps and I quickly swapped them for 18" Titanium Pack wheels.
    Old wheels;
    New ones;
    That is all I have done to it up until now!

    I have a limited budget as I am an Automotive Technician graduate and I am still buying tools and saving up my money for life in general.

    Sneakpeak of my future plans with the car;
    Rods that the PO had waiting to be installed!! Got them for 200$ ;)

    Thanks guys! Im in Canada (Quebec) so I doubt anyone has seen or knows the car. Of course I would like to have a full frame turbo set-up but I can't really complain! It makes plenty of power for a guy who has a daily Stage 2 MK4 Jetta.

    Anyway.. GOALS:
    Top Mounted GT2871R (cause looks cool lol) @~25-27psi
    Catless Exhaust
    Mafless (for a clean intake setup)
    Bigger TB
    High flow Intake Mani
    Rear CF diffuser

    These are ultimate goals that may happen in a long time or not.. But I would like to pull the motor for the winter and install rods to take more boost.

    Priorities;
    Lower it ASAP
    New Intake set-up
    Black honeycomb mesh in lower bumper
    Tint
    Wrap roof in gloss black and (maybe) mirrors

    Interior pic because I forgot to include one;

    Engine bay picture coming soon!

    Thanks for reading!

    This is incorrect. With the coil conversion delivering more spark (stronger spark, call it what you will) you gap the plugs wider. On stock coils with a tune you reduce the stock gap of .032 to .028 to prevent the spark from blowing out under high boost. If you had misfires at a higher gap with the coil conversion you most likely have a failing coilpack. You put a band-aid on it by lowering the gap. You should be covering this in school at some point. Now it is entirely possible that the PO had it gapped to high, I've always heard .042 is the sweet spot for the upgraded coils.

    LOLOLOLOLOL .042 is NOT the sweet spot. PO did have them gapped way too high.

    That being said, you want to run the largest gap that you can without misfiring. Next time you change your oil open up the gaps to .032 and see if it pops a code, if so drop it back down. When I ran a 6262 at 35+psi on my B6 I had to gap my plugs down to .028, I don't think that would be very necessary for you on a 71R eliminator at 20psi lol.

    Also, I'd really recommend FR5DTC plugs. They don't need gapped and were designed specifically for turbo charged Porsche engines.

    OP, car looks great. It's worth it to go full frame from Eliminator.

    I would say it's an upgrade as long as you upgrade the rear to something larger that would help even it out.

    Non-sport front/rear to A4 sport or S4 front/rear (same bars) would be an upgrade. Add an 034 rear with the A4 sport or S4 front and you have a solid upgrade.

    dont touch the front bar, adding a rear will not "even it out". a stock front a4 bar and s4 bar with the same rear bar, stock a4 front will handle better.

    So you're saying if I dropped my sport front bar and replaced with a stock A4, it would handle better?

    in theory yes, if the sport bar is thicker. stock bar creates less understeer, and everyone knows our cars are understeer bandits

    My New Toy (BT/B5)

    Thanks for the info guys! I understand the concept of going with the biggest gap possible without getting misfires, I just went with what I read.
    I find that the B5 stock leans way too much in corners and I saw a great deal on S4 front AND rear bars so I jumped on it.. The rear is going in soon, I definitely think it is an upgrade especially for 60$.
    Looks like I will need to try those FR5DTC plugs. I am going to try a .035 gap on my BKR7E's for now.
    I payed 5k, the guy was asking 8k with extra parts (engine,aeb head,valve springs ect.) and winter wheel setup. I took just the car on summers and the rods for extra 200$. I don't know what the market is like down in the US but I think it was a deal at this condition,milage and parts invested in the car. Let me know what you think!

    I just assume use the front sport bar. Audi designed it to use with the sport package for a reason. Paired with the 034 rear I just bought it should be a great combo.

    Meh, let people make there own choices. I added my Hotchkiss rear with sport front and was apprehensive to put the front Hotchkiss in because of comments like this.

    I'm glad I eventually did, love it.

    What I'm surprised about is how OP bought S4 bars when they are the same as sport A4 bars. The odds that his car is non-sport, especially an 01, is very slim. OP, care to answer if your car is a factory non-sport?

    Theres your choices, choose wisely

    As is often the case, this may be truth in theory, but not in application. Who here is tracking their car? No one? *crickets*

    For the street, it is better.

    Didn't the old DTM A4 from the 90's run a stock non sport front seat bar with a big rear? I think the 034 time attack A4 does the same.

    understeer is better for an understeer laden quattro street car?

    i dont track my car, but 034 does with their time attack car, and if memory serves me correct, they run stock front bar with their 034 rear, no?

    Maybe, but what I am saying is that just because something is best for the track does not necessarily mean it is best for street cars.

    Understeer is more safe for a novice driver and street car. It's predictable.

    Oversteer situation takes a lot more skill to control. Unpredictable only begins to describe it in a AWD vehicle with open differentials. It's a crap shoot which direction you'll go flying when you lose it.

    Why most production vehicles are setup to understeer.

    tru. just like having the stiffest suspension on a street car isnt always the best, the stiffer the suspension, less mechanical grip

    That's why I say let them make up their own minds. Not like it takes more than 30 minutes to install a SWAY BAR anyways ;)

    Your talking the front sway bar right? Bc that 034 RSB and brackets almost made me sell my car. Talk about a tight fit.....

    Yeah front.

    The Hotchkiss rear is no better for fitment, but I got them in.
