Ouch, what is JHM's response to this, considering their name is mentioned 11 times in that listing???

The car would easily meet and exceed the asking price if everything was removed and sold separately

So I can assume you've bought it already?

    ....why would you think that?

I just knew about all the stuff that was done to this car back when mbgt72 owned it and did all the upgrades. He literally has pretty much every JHM part there is for it.

Also I've got a decent idea of what used stuff goes for since I've parted nearly 2 cars and bought stuff like used long tube headers myself before

I've considered that option. I don't have access to a lift or hoist for more than a couple days at a time, and honestly am a little intimidated. I would hate to f up a 5-6,000 dollar supercharger system, along with body parts, etc...if you know someone who would be interested and has the means to do so, I am open to an offer that could be feasible for them to make some money doing so. Thanks

The hell kind of comment/question is this? They're a company and their parts and services are on the car. There isn't anything negative about their company name being noted.

Hey, I'm a JHM fan like the next guy, but seriously????? 5k miles ago JHM does timing and installs new heads, and now it loses lots of oil. They install a new A/C compressor, but now no A/C. They do the clutch, but now it's not working right. He was pretty specific in the listing about those issues and JHM doing the work less than 5k ago. So I think I'm reasonable in asking about what they have to say about this. Maybe the owner already had them look at it and it was decided that the new issues aren't related what they did. Maybe he talked to them and they said ship us the car, but he didn't want to deal with it any more. Maybe JHM says too bad, so sad, out of warranty.

For sure it seems odd to me to spend that amount of money and then give up on it, so that's why I'm trying to dig a bit.

^Stage 4 clutches are known to have a failing RS4 pp, just like on RS4s. OP should've went with their R-series clutches without sac. A quart every 350miles is shit load of oil loss. Considering he has new heads, the problem must be elsewhere. He did mention he has some cylinder scoring. JHM probably won't comment anything here, they usually don't. If you're serious about buying it, I'd get in touch with them directly and see what they say.

Yeah, Jhm didn't have the r series out yet when I bought the car. That would be a logical next step. The funny thing is, I have pictures of the inside of the cylinder walls. There is a Very small amount of scoring on the top of cylinder 1, other than that, no issues with the block. The heads are basically brand new, so I would t think it would be coming from there either. It is a mystery to me at this point. I really want someone that knows what they are doing to resurrect this thing, I know it has a lot of good life left in it. It is a beautiful car. I don't want to part the thing out....but I don't have the resources or cash to pull the motor for a total inspection. Spread the word.

Crazy question, but are you leaking actual oil anywhere? Have you looked into your PCV? IIRC I believe the most oil I was loosing when I had my first S4 was half a quart in a 5k miles and that was solely due to leaking VCGs. Once replaced, I did not notice any oil loss in the next two 5k OCIs. Do you notice any smoke coming from exhaust at any point?

It's not about being a fan. I don't love or hate JHM, they have some good products and the only ones that really support this platform is all. I personally don't like their costumer service and how they handle technical issues when it's actually their fault, but nothing I read in the ad brought me to the conclusions you made. Some of the reasons have already been noted by members above.

From the owner's perspective, if I had spent that amount of money recently with a shop, I would for sure make a big deal about working with them to come to some kind of arrangement.

From JHM's perspective, if I had just done all that on a customer's car, and I saw the customer now having to ditch the car due to issues, I'd do my best to make things right by them within reason.

So with that said, I would have expected the owner to have shipped the car to JHM for a free analysis, and once they had diagnosed the car, an agreement would have been made. Anything less than that...still seems very odd to me...
