    A6 Grill

    Hi All,

I want to end up with a grill that has the bar running horizontally across, i.e. with the space that would fit an european licence plate.

I am looking to achieve this in the easiest and most cost effective way, any thoughts?

    Have a good day!

Do you want to modify your current grille or buy a new one ?

I would say whichever is the easiest.

I have a growing list of things I would like to do, so a new grill is for me at this point is not my most urgent requirement. I want to mount a UK style plate and shift the US plate over to the tow hook.

    Thanks

You can buy just the center portion of the grille

Expanding on this a little since I'm not yet finding the specific part, can I clarify something about changing the whole grille.

From what I've read, it's possible to remove the stock grille without removing bumper but with a real risk of damaging the clips.

That doesn't concern me too much but my question is this is, is it possible to fit the replacement in the same manner, without bumper off, in a way that won't cause any damage to it?

    Mick-

I have removed and replaced my grill and can honeslty say that I dont see how it is possible to do it properly without removing the bumper. Plus, depending on the year of the car and the year of the doner grill there may be a mounting mismatch. IIRC MY 05-08 grills were held in place by tabs only. MY 09-11 where a combination of tabs and screws.

    Thanks Sin!!

Back to the filler or licence plate bracket idea for me then. Having pond hopped so many times over the last decade, the tool collection dwindled to almost nothing. Here for good now and slowly putting things together, but not enough tools or indeed currently the physical ability to do that.

    Appreciate the input!
