IIRC, this video is posted in the oil consumption thread. It was an Audi mechanic, who is (or now was) a member here and made the video for us.

Sadly though, I can tell you many areas he skipped over for the sake of time. That's what happens at a dealership. Wouldn't doubt many bolts and gaskets were reused, which shouldn't be.

Technically you don't have to. If you notice when he pulls the motor, the front clip rocks a lot. This is called "service position" for our cars. There are 2 bars you screw in (a "T" tool) that go into the frame through the crash support member. You then bolt certain areas and the lock carrier (front clip), radiator, condensing unit, etc. all slide forward a good 8-12" to provide room and clearance.

I seen my mechanic do a piston ring replacement and chain in 6 hours on a 2011 BMW.He had his son helping also.

No doubt for warranty work they do it in a day. For any poor soul paying for it themselves it would be a good 3 day job at whatever hourly rate they're charging.
