    What vacuum is the 1.8 amb supposed to have? I'm getting 18.5 in hg

    Vacuum on a healthy engine can range from 18→21 in-Hg depending upon the engine load at idle. 20→21 would be at idle with minimal load. As you increase the load the ECM has to increase the torque to maintain the idle speed and consequently the vacuum decreases. For example, turn the A/C on high and add a lot of alternator load and the vacuum can drop well below 20 in Hg. Turn the steering wheel back and forth and it will drop even further.

    depending on sea level height as well, I have 2 B6's and 1 B5 1.8t and all 3 run around 18-19.5 in Hg at idle in neutral (manual) or park (automatic) a/c off. Changes in barometric pressure seem to change the readings on the gauge slightly as well.
