    Massive Oil Leak - Ideas?

I just got my car back from getting the valve cover gasket and cam/plug seals replaced. Got the car back on Tuesday. When I first got the car back, it felt sluggish, but after taking it out for some drives, it started feeling more normal. Went for another drive tonight and when I got back home, I noticed fluid in my parking spot. I popped the hood and after close inspection, noticed oil all over the belly pan. I couldn't see any oil on any engine parts though and couldn't see where the leak is coming from. When I looked under the car, there was a lot of oil and it even splattered all over underneath the car. Last time I checked the oil level earlier this week, it was 3/4 to max. When I checked it when I got back it was min, but thank god my low oil warning didn't go off during my drive.

Any ideas where it could be leaking from? Do you think getting the gaskets/seals replaced and the leak are related? The garage I took it to is not the normal place I go to, but they are very reputable even offering a 36,000 mile/3 year warranty on their work, but they are way more expensive then the normal place I go to. They are just convenient and 5 minutes from work. My normal place is an hour. Do I just take it back hoping that they are related and hopefully they'll fix it free of charge or just take it to my usual mechanic an hour away knowing that they would charge much less? I would get it flatbedded of course.

Ohh, and my car has about 74,000 miles, 2008 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro 6MT.

I would check behind the engine near the fire wall for any leaks. They may have taken the cam timing chain cover and vacuum pump off. That is where it is likely to be leaking from. Take it back either way, just don't run low on oil.

Forgot to mention, this all happened within a couple of hours, it wasn't a gradual loss of oil. I went out both in the morning and in the afternoon and there was no sign of oil in my parking spot. Something must of happened when I went out to grab lunch.

I find that shops will always say it is unrelated. All I can really suggest is high pressure washing the underneath. Take off the belly pan , top up the oil and run it.

See if you can find the leak.

Did some digging around this morning. In just feeling around, I found oil underneath the exhaust manifold. Don't know if this is where it's originating from though. Couldn't feel oil anywhere else, but also couldn't get my hands in every nook and cranny. I'm no expert and can't get check underneath. Hopefully this will ring a bell with someone.

As I said, check the cam timing cover.
