Hey Guys,

Wanted to share a little project I'm working on. I'm prepping the car up for some changes this summer and one of the projects I wanted to tackle was a custom set of DTM DRL's. The DTM front bumper has those useless decorative side grills I thought would make a perfect place for some LED DRL's. I'm documenting the process but I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek.

I'm sure that would be a good use for them. They are each pretty damn bright. They are like mini projector lights since they have a lense. The light beam is pretty focused. I tested out 2 in the garage at night and it lit up half of the space. I can only imagine what 10 would be like .

Tackled the install today . Wasn't to bad to put them in but the wiring was a little bit of a bitch. I had every easily accessible opening into the cabin pretty much full, so I had to go in through the wheel well nipples. Here are some pics of the process.


Here's the original opening for the DTM side vents. You'll need to trim away most of the surface area and get as close as possible to the mounting tabs.

I ended up removing the top tab slots and stuck with only the sides.

Wiring followed the OEM foglight harness:




Quick disconnect so it plugs and unplugs just the fog light harness:



Wire Routing:

Didn't fit right so I went in through the wheel well.

Looks awesome to me! At first i thought the plate it self dident look straight, but end result was great! Thumbs up!

Are the LED purple a bit or it's just the picture?
What CMD are the led? I would have picked a bit brighter

They are not 100% straight the actual grill has a slight curvature inward. But the LED's are mounted dead center of each mesh opening.

Are the LED purple a bit or it's just the picture?
What CMD are the led? I would have picked a bit brighter

Hey Phil the LED's are not purple it's just the pic (my camera has UV filters so it kills the brightness and alters the color a bit). They are HID white/bright to my eye in person. I'll upload a video so you can see how bright they are on a non filtered lense.

Cool White, MA:37 , Lumins:18.4, Color Temp: 12,000
Housing: Aluminum
Lens: PMMA

they had a 58 Lumins version but it did not come in black only stainless. So I stuck with this version.

Yeah it was kind of annoying that Oznium did not have the brighter version in black. But these are bright enough I think for what I wanted. They keep up with the HID fogs in brightness. Was thinking of doing custom LED bar for those 3 lower openings in the center but it might be overkill.

it my be just an impression but imho, b7 look already younger than b8 and much younger than b9.

just like e90 looks younger than the latest 3 series.

New trend : more conservative look on new cars.
