Unhappy Difference between CAEB and CAED??

Hello everyone, first post! and may be a tough one.

Got 2012 A4 S-Line manual, CAEB engine code. 5 months out of warranty cylinder #3 is not holding compression dealer will only do at cost replacement which is around 8k. Decided to do the swap at my buddies shop, looking for an engine now.

Found a CAED 2.0t that came out of 2014 A4 S-Line manual (with plastic intake manifold, just like mine). I read through the "How to: Audi A4 B8 2.0 TFSI CAEB SWAP TO CPMA / CPMB" (http://lovetodiyandmore.com/page8.php?category=14) which was a great resource but the question is:

Will the CAED engine swap into my 2012 A4?? Im guessing if the CAEB to CPMA is possible then the CAEB to CAED will be as well?

Does anyone know what are the primary differences between the CAEB and CAED engines? Aparently the CAED is in some A6s as well but could not find much info on how the two differ or whether the swap has ever been done before.

Also are there any differences in transmission mount patterns within B8 and B8.5, or are they universal for most 2.0t engines?

    Thanks!!!

I have been wondering this for some time now... basically two + years since I bought my car.
Here is the little I know:
    1. The reason the 2014 engine you found is a CAED is because it came out of a 6 speed manual transmission car. If it was an automatic it would have been a CPMA / CPMB.
    2. The CAED is NOT E85 compliant.

I know that's not much but hope it helps.

Thanks Mr. Milo. That is what I was guessing as well. Gonna go ahead and order it. If the only difference to CPMA/CPMB is the tranny then the swap is doable. Will try and document the swap and post the results.
