    Bent wheel

Unfortunately I hit a pothole while driving at night and this is the result. The place I'm taking it in for repair would need to keep the wheel for multiple days. These are 19" wheels but my car came with 18" wheels which means the spare is only 18" also. I heard if one of the tires are blown all four tires would need to be replaced so I can't drive on three 19" and one 18" wheel? It's my first AWD car so I'm not familiar with the mismatched wheel size.

My spare is something like 15' or 16'... with large sidewall. The combined diameter is relatively constant regardless of rim size, so you can ran on a spare (recommended less than 50 miles). I'll let the experts chime in on this, but if memory serves, to be road-legal you need to have matching rims and tire sizes

    Yeah, sounds a bit confusing.

First, you should be able to get it repaired and done within one day, if the place isn't too busy. Idk where "moore" is, but I'm sure there are multiple wheel places nearby, and some are better than others.

Second, if you've upgraded to 19s, you should have gone "plus one" in size, meaning that the overall rolling diameter should be roughly the same, within a couple percent. Quattro is sensitive to differing rolling diameters, but that's usually once you're at 3-4%. Depending on how worn the tires are, you may be able to get by with the 18 mounted. Especially if you are only going a short distance. But again, something you should measure.

Third, I don't see any obvious damage to the tire. But they'll know more when they take it off to straighten it. If they look it over and it's fine, just have them remount the tire and go about your merry way. If you need more peace of mind, measure the tread depth, and order it from Tire Rack. They have a special service for some $ more that will shave your tire down to the correct diameter. You can then mount that not have to worry about it. Just know in the future that you won't have to necessarily buy all 4 new tires.

I'm currently running two different pairs of wheels (both 19s) because two from each set need to be repaired. Haven't seen that it is illegal. That would make spares illegal too. Matching tire sizes is probably more accurate, but he should be fine for a day. Worst case scenario, he could rent a car while it's getting fixed.

im pretty sure his tire is blown out, there is a gash visible in the picture.

spare tire should be good for the time being, but if you are worried about it have a tire shop measure the spare vs the other wheels to make sure its within a safe spec to drive on.

Thanks all for the comments. I'll put the spare in while the wheel is repaired. My tire is find with exception of cosmetic damage, tire pressure remains the same as before the damage.

I would agree the person above. If the sidewall on the 19" tires are 35mm, then it's ok to run a 18" wheel with 40mm sidewall.
