So my 2002 a4 1.8t just started overheating. It's been misfiring for some time now and all the coilpacks are new, I see some white smoke coming from somewhere right around the bottom of the head or right on top of the turbo, such I recently had replaced. I don't see Any white smoke coming from the exhaust. Any ideas?

If the car overheated it probably warped the head. You can do various tests to confirm a head or gasket issue

And a warped head will cause it to overheat? What are test that I can do?

If its warped it will be down on power and compression will be down. I would start with a compression test.

The gasket will be the first thing to go. A warped head is not the cause of overheating.... it's the result of overheating. Overheating is typically caused by a lack of coolant flow. This could be either a failed water pump or something that is blocking flow (clogged radiator, cracked pipe, etc.). I had an overheating issue caused by the radiator clogged and stopping all coolant flow (was hot on one side and ice cold on the other side). I was fortunate to only have the gasket take the damage and not the head.

Hey, I'm going through this myself and I'm in the process of tearing down the car, if you haven't already take out and check the spark plugs, and check your oil to see if coolant and oil have started mixing, since there is coolant being burned in the cylinder, one of your plugs could show signs of fouling.
