Question Has anyone tried metal check valves to replace OEM plastic ones? 2001 2.7T

    Hey everyone,
I was planning on doing some spring cleaning under the hood . I would like to replace some vacuum lines that are about shot, and reroute some to clean up the top of the engine a bit. Anyway, I was going to order a 3.5" silicone coupler to go from the MAF to the Y-Pipe (Sorry to sound cheap, but I really don't feel like spending $75 on the one from 034) from these guys http://www.siliconeintakes.com/ Looks like their T-Bolt clamps are pretty cheap too so I was going to order the sizes I need to finish my hose replacements all over the engine. Then I noticed they had these aluminum check valves http://www.siliconeintakes.com/liqui...an-p-9584.html in a bunch of different sizes.

Has anyone replaced theirs with anything like this? Or does anyone have experience with these valves or this website? Thanks!

EDIT 6/3/16: After doing some reading on a bunch of poor experiences with T bolt clamps from a lot of fellow Audi owners I think going to just find some nice smooth worm gear clamps for my piping.

    Hi Hobo

Years ago you heard of many OEM failures etc., but I believe Audi did an update on the valves (back many years) and you heard less and less about failing diverter valves... However, many of us did switch to the 710N valves as they have been proven reliable and the spring rates had a little bit better performance. Many folks spent extra $$$ on the aluminium valves, but I never saw the point (IMHO) unless you wanted it for looks, maybe. I ran my 710 valves for more than 100K miles and never had an issue. I guess its a personal choice, but I would personally rather spend the money elsewhere... ;-)

I have a doc on VAGLinks with some info and links (2nd page) which may give you some more info to consider etc ==> http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Misc/VA...rter_Valve.pdf

    I hope that helps.

    Cheers

Hey Massboykie, thanks for the response! I think there may be a little confusion though. I was actually talking about the green one way valves that are placed through out our vacuum system like this one:

When I redid my spider hose I noticed the valve by the F-hose was pretty nasty and I was thinking than something like the metal ones above would add a nice touch to the bay as well as possibly being more robust, but would like to hear if anyone else has tried it. If nobody has I may go for it just to see how it works and let everyone know what my findings are.

710N's are on my list for this spring though! I'm sure my DVs are pretty well shot.
