Anybody know of a Roof Bike Rack where you can keep front tire on?

Found one brand on Google when I searched, but I do not want to deal with taking the front tire on/off every time. I'd like to avoid a trunk rack. Has anybody had good experiences with any certain brand that allows both tire to stay on the bike? Thanks.

I'm using the RockyMounts Euro Pitchfork, as I find it to be a more sleek and quieter bike mount for the Whispbar's. I think it's a more secure way to mount a bicyle by the front fork, but just my two cents.

Thule and Yakima have lots of mounts that keep the front wheel on.

There are several brands that now offer this. There is even an OEM one if you mind paying out the ying yang for it. I personally run a euro pitchfork, as it was cheap and I heard good things about it.

Check Thule products. I used to have one that worked well. A swing arm clamped onto the frame tube holding it upright and wheel straps secured the wheels.

I use the Wispbar system (now owned by Yakima) and love it. The overall system works really well. Different attachments (ski racks, bike carriers, etc.) attach via a channel in the cross bars. I just slide them on and off as needed.

1up makes the best bikes racks by far. They can handle any type or size of bike. I have 4 mountain bikes including 2 carbon fiber bikes. None of the rack touches the bike's frame, only the tires. Mine is a hitch mount rack for my Montero but they make trays for other brand bars.

What sort of bikes are you transporting?

If it's a mtn bike/crusier/norma bike/ not something crazy, go with the Thule Criterium. It's proven worldwide and looks better than any other when no bikes are on it, IMO. It's a frame clamp.

If it's something you do not want frame contact on, such as a carbon bike, check out the Thule Sidearm. It clamps onto the tire, super solid.

I use Thule because they are the only racks that meet all European standards, which are the highest in the world. Yakima and Rocky Mounts do not, which is why they are sold here in the US. Thule is also the OEM supplier for almost every car brand on the market - they make all the OE racks for VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, GM, Ford, Mazda, Subaru, etc. That says it all.

I run a pair of Yakima High Roller mounts, and I'm very happy with them. Crossbars are Whispbars.
