Used KW HAS Installed - Front Won't Lower at All...

Not sure if this is in the right section, but I'll give it a shot. A couple days ago, @kracas85 and I were able to install the KW Height Adjustable Spring kit on my A5. After following the instructions and installing everything according to them, the rear of the car settled within a few minutes, but the fronts have not settled or even lowered at all.

Today I took it to a friend's shop, and we raised the car to adjust the coils, and lowered them to the maximum setting with the helper spring, and again, the front would not lower at all.

Has anyone run into a problem like this? I bought these off an Audizine member in California, through eBay, but they worked just fine on his A5. I'm wondering if we did something wrong? Could another part be seized?

Pictures of the install would certainly help diagnose your problem.

Did you remove the spring perches on the front struts? The car will not lower if you do not remove them.

Above are the pictures of how it sits right now. I'm pretty sure we removed the spring perches, but will double check when we take the front suspension out again. It would be pretty embarrassing if we left them in, but in the pursuit of good experience, I'm okay with that.

We failed to realize that the lower spring perch was a separate piece and didn't remove it. Thanks for the quick response! @SLU_S5 and @ JamesRS5

Same thing happened when mine were installed. Take them out and enjoy the new ride!

Ooops, easy mistake to make, those spring perches don't look like they're removable until you give them a tap with a hammer.

Let's see some pictures of the car at its new ride height.

Used KW HAS Installed - Front Won't Lower at All...

Just curious why the front spring Perch needs to be removed with the HAS kit. I just put a set of H&R OE's on my S5. And to my knowledge my friend putt all the OEM stuff back on including the perch. Sitting pretty good right now, just did it last week. He even got the rear dust shields on which were a pain I recall lol.

I assume this has something to do with the HAS kit is adjustable & has its own perch?

The KW HAS kit used a threaded sleeve which fits over the damper body, the lower Spring seat needs to be removed for the sleeve to locate in the correct position.

The OE Spring seat can be refitted if you remove the KW kit, it just locates back in the original place.

H&R OE springs use the standard Spring seat so no need to remove it.

I see what you're saying, and the dust covers on these things are a major source of pain, but the lowered look makes up for it. We're redoing the front tomorrow morning, and I'll post pics.
Thanks for the explaining the problem too

There should be dust covers and shorter bump stops in the kit with the springs.

Got it! We lowered the car moderately. I don't want to go too low without the spacers to take care of the wheel gap

RDX Racedesign. I wouldn't say it looks like a Chrysler, but you're entitled to your opinion. I wanted to be different from the part of the b8 crowd that I see so often (OEM Plus, "Take it to a shop!", "Don't ruin it!"). It may take a while, but my little A5 will be a unique, fast and actually fun car when I'm done modding, whether I've ruined it in some people's eyes or not.

Agreed. Do your car a favor and take that off ASAP.

Your ride height looks very nice.
