    Homelink Heart Attack

Is it me is homelink always a pain? I have done it with 4-5 different cars on 4-5 different openers, all rolling code and it always is a headache?

    2016 c7.5 s6, overhead door w/ rolling code

I follow the directions via MMI, and it doesn't work

Seems like shooting the opener into audi rings works (I get the 3 turn signal flash). Then I hit the learn button on garage door opener unit, hit the key I'm trying to program in the car, nothing happens. attempted several times, no difference.

tried erasing homelink memory on car, didnt help.

    Called Homelink rep, worthless

Did a view searches always similar directions, no difference in results.

A few people w B& S4 needed a "repeater" can't see that has been needed for our cars...

    Any pointers?

In my 2016 S6 it worked to do it manually vs. The screen. The instructions did not work. Also I had to be directly in front of the door I wanted to program. The instructions to do it manually are in the owners manual.

1 park s6 in front of door u want to program.

2 have someone press the learn button on the unit

3 hold the program button you want to program then get out and use the original remote that came with the opener in front of the car bumper so it can read the signal

4 it should pick up the signal properly. Might take a few tries to get it to work

I have a 2013 and followed the directions in the manual. Worked perfectly for me with zero issues. I wonder if the brand opener has anything to do with it?

I did the same as Clipse3GT on my C7.5 S6. Works fine.

Not using the original remote might be the issue.

Thanks, so #3 you say "hold the program button you want to program then get out and use the original remote that came with the opener in front of the car bumper so it can read the signal" Do you mean the button on headliner of car has to be depressed the entire time the original remote is shooting front of car, or do you just tap the button on headliner then get out and shoot front of car?

tap and then get out. I seem to recall my steps being different than Clipse. I recall pressing the button I wanted to program, then pressing the garage door opener in front of the grill, then pressing the learn button, but I may be off on the sequence. I did whatever the manual says to manually program it and it has worked flawlessly on my car and the two non-Audi vehicles the woman has been driving over the last 2 years.

I had a lot of trouble too (2017 Q7). Had to try it about 5 or 6 times before the programming function finally worked. It was very frustrating!

You might be correct its been a few months since I did mine. But had to go through the manual process to get it to work correctly.

OK I got it. I spoke with my SA, he suggested actually pulling the car into the garage, not sure if this made a huge difference, but also I forgot to mention that I have ceramic tint on the car. I think that has been implicated in reducing transmission of some devices. Also took the input from cdubya19 into account and found a different remote opener, potentially the original that was paired with the garage door opener. These two things got the job done. Thanks everyone for your help...
