The gauge recently started showing nothing but it starts showing after driving for 30-45mins sometimes...

Without finding an a thread or great info on google-

VCDS shows me this of the G2 if others have direction (and pictures) with this issue-

    01039 - Coolant Temperature Sensor (G2)
30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent

    Thanks in advance-

    Agreed ^

With VCDS you can separately enter the Engine and Instrument Cluster modules, and view their respective coolant temperature values. The CTS sensor has two separate sensors internally, and it's possible only one has gone bad.

Don't get the brand URO; mine lasted less than a year.

Agreed with the above, make sure you are also get the o-ring for the temp sensor (part number 059919501A) and the clip that holds it to the flange. These temp sensors are dual purpose as aforementioned, dual control switch, and auxiliary fan switch. Original 1.8t units were black, new ones will be green 4 pin. Common replacement item.

Thought I had replied to this. I agree with avoiding URO brand, mine failed within 15k.
