Question Changing rotors & pads - a few questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I'm doing a complete rotor & pad exchange tomorrow. Finally got my AP Racing front rotors and JHM rears + Ferodo DS2500 pads.
I just ran through ELSA and found an interesting point regarding the bolts that hold the callipers in place. Do you really have to replace these bolts up front and back?
I'm not being a cheeps-cake on the few bolts, I would just like to know if I have to order them or not, because I never heard before that these have to be exchanged.

    Ps: Bobbins already assembled

You should be fine without swapping the bolts.

Looking good, what was the reason for the combo? I likely go the jhm 380's next in the front. Also, anyone sell the up sized rears w/ bracket/adapter? As far as I recall most of the ones I see remain the stock 324 or something like that. And yes, I know the rears suffice as is but upgrading is my hobby! :)

I just went through a complete rotor and pad swap out and reused all the caliper retaining bolts. Taking out the rear calipers were a bit of a hassle but I did that only because I was getting them painted - no need to go thru all that just to swap out rotors.

don't need to take the rear calipers off to replace rear rotors, just take out the pads and with some finesse the rotors will go in.

I wouldn't think so... the stock caliper housing probably wouldn't have room for anything bigger.

Thanks, I was thinking adapter like for the front when you do the 380mm upgrade with oem calipers.

Changing rotors & pads - a few questions

Deciding on a color can be so grueling

Especially since my wheels have a bronze-ish accent. Hmmmmm

Thank you all for your input guys.
Noticed during installation at the rear that only one slider bolt needs to be removed to pull the calliper off and replace the rotor&pads.

Ferodo pads are beaded in properly and holy hell do these BITE!

Hey man! I went with AP because I intend to track the car a bit and importing the JHM fronts or getting the OEM fronts was both more expensive and they aren't good track quality as far as I researched the interwebs.

For the rears it was a price based decision and I wanted floating rears, so I went with the JHM rears as I was buying the Hotchkis rear sway-bar at the same time.

Note on the stiffer rear sway-bar: DAMMIT it's a new car!

For the up-sized rear rotors the only ones I know about are the ones that come with the Stoptech Rear Big Brake Kit ST-40 at a size of 355x32. For comparison the rears in the AP big brake kit are still the same dimension.

Changing rotors & pads - a few questions

As far as I understand the caliper plate comes from the RS7, which is why the reference is used but caliper is the stock RS4 one on the applications above, including mine with the gold color. If there is an upgrade, please let us know - as I want to upsize rear rotor size to something larger than 324mm. Preferable just find the rotors and then a bracket to bring out the calipers, similar to the systems available for the front while upsizing to 380mm ones and stock front calipers. I bought mine from ECS btw, listed under RS7, and maybe under RS5 too but not sure.

Not sure about that, what i meant was the RS7 caliper plate that we can install on top of the stock RS4 calipers!
