To use New Inter-cooler piping or Stock Inter-cooler Piping, that is the question.

    Hello Everybody,

I have seen people running stock piping and have seen people installing aftermarket piping. The question I have is, does the aftermarket inter-cooler plumbing change the performance aspect? Is it relate-able to changing out the turbo inlet pipe? (continuing that smooth flow all the way through?) I'm planning the process of setting my car up for stg 2 and if there is a significant jump in peformance with the piping, I will get the kit. I have already decided on the treadstone tr8!! I have seen all good feedback on that puppy and it looks awesome!

Feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

There is probably not enough increase in performance for you to notice. I have always done an entire kit though, the aluminum pipes also help to transfer heat a bit, but not in any measureable amount.

As far as performance goes, I have heard that the piping decreases spool time by a couple hundred RPMs. So it comes down to whether that is worth it to you.

That is worth it to me if its true, I'm looking for concrete information from people with parts put on their cars. Thanks for the input though!!

The stock rubber hoses will expand more, under boost, than silicone would. I would suspect that this is the reason for the small improvement in spool time, charge isn't wasted to "blow up" the hoses before going into the engine.

I don't have the complete hose kit to compare but I think you'll get 99% there with the TR8 and capping the sound box.

I don't think the hoses make a measurable difference in performance. The muffler delete and soundbox mod may improve spool slightly along with the turbo Inlet pipe. I have the full EC kit on my car including the HFIP, you can achieve the same thing with the aforementioned parts. I felt more top end improvement than low end personally, but that's to be expected increasing flow.

Stick with stock piping IMO. Cap the sound box. I did that with my TR11. Only reason I'm switching is I picked up a Eurocode FMIC with full piping as part of a larger package deal.

That is what i'm leaning towards. Something else to throw into the loop, I was contemplating purchasing the turbo muffler delete, and if I purchase it from CTS, then a couple extra buck I can get the IC Hose kit along with it...

Idk if that even makes sense either. I don't know if there's much difference with a muffler delete. For what it's worth the K04 comes comes with one

Haha yes yes of course! K04 is next years plan. Doesn't the turbo muffler delete decrease spool time and increase that beautiful turbo noise??

Barely as far as I know. Look at it this way. If you are already planning K04... Save that 150 and put it in the k04 fund. Then wait for someone to sell a used one. That's where mine came from. I may even end up reselling this one if things fall into place over a certain time frame.

+1 on that. Big turbo isn't an option for me in the near future, so I picked up all the EC bits used at a decent price, it's not enough of a difference even with an upgraded intercooler to justify the cost.
