Most cost efficient way to drop my car?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I want to drop my car an inch or so but don't really need a full performance suspension set up. What is the best/cheapest way to go about this? I know best and cheapest don't typically go hand in hand but any help would be greatly appreciated.

trust me, i did it all. its not worth it,you end up doing the job 2-3 times, and at the end... it spent more money in the long run. just save the money and buy mid range coilovers. i heard the ST coilovers are decent.

I went with the Eibach Pro Kit shortly after purchasing my B8 A4 2 months ago. Overall very happy with the result, makes a big difference. However, definitely a little regret not just getting coilovers. Will likely go with coilovers sometime down the road...happy with the springs for now though.

What's the price difference between the pro kit and the could era you're thinking about?

Agreed, just spring for coil overs. No pun intended. I would look at the Bilstein PSS10s. Limited Lifetime warranty, adjustable for ride and height settings. Your driving an Audi. Why would you want to compromise?

I think the Pro Kit is about $270, although its about an hour each corner to install if you are not able to do it yourself, which was my situation. So I spent more on labour then for the springs. Have not looked into pricing on Coils at all yet, it will be a while before I consider doing that. All in all, Pro Kit was a solid, cost effective choice for me at the time. Which is why I decided to go with springs to begin with.

Even though my decision was to go with the Pro Kit...can't argue with this.

It's not that I want to compromise it's that I don't really need improved handling. Just want the lessen the wheel gap. But I will look into coil overs also.

For 550 you can get solowerks coils and for the money they are worth it. Not a racecar stiff suspension but adjustable and lower. I was going to get those and then got the deal of a lifetime on airlift kit so I dove into air.good luck.

well I am a cheapass, I ended up purchasing used solo werks from a fellow az member. they are a good combo of not too stiff, and good adjustability. my stock shocks had 100K and were worn out anyway, adding springs to old shocks will just wear them even worse....

id vote get some solowerks and install them your self. that way u can adjust to what ever u need vs a static setting of a lowering spring.

I can echo the responses on the Solowerks. Have 10k on mine, and don't have a single complaint. Ride quality is just a bit stiffer than stock, lots of room to adjust drop. Only complaint I have is that my entire rear threaded body spins a lot when trying to adjust it, so you have to find a creative way to hold the body while adjusting. That's the problem with not having any rubber between the rear shock mount and body. I may fix that in the future. All in all, great coilover for the money.

What about shocks and springs from the sport package? May not be as low as some of the options mentioned but will maintain your ride quality.

That option was just presented to me. I'm definitely considering it. Because while I want the look of the drop, ride quality is number one. I mean it's an Audi!

There's a set of solowerks in the classifieds for 300 I think. Jump on those.

Drive your car off a cliff. Or buy lowering springs and drive it for a while. The ride will make you want to drive your car off a cliff. Find a time machine, go back in time....... Either buy a decent set of coils, or a good cup kit.
