Question Generic or store brand Mufflers

Hi all, I am trying to revive my a4 a bit, as its been a of a pit for me since I got it in the fall. So the goal is to fix its issues, as budget friendly as possible. I dont want to shell out the big cash for a full exhaust system, so I was wondering if anyone on here had any suggestions for ebay mufflers that fit, or dynomax, thrush, cherry bomb, etc. Ive found a few videos, but not a lot of detail. Im looking to replace basically from the cat back as the whole thing is rotten.

From what Ive seen, there was a B5 I think that had a cherry bomb glass pack and thats it. Not sure if thats a good way to go or not

Ive also found the Cherry Bomb 16804 turbo mufflers have a similar dimensions to the ones used in the magnaflow system and thought this might be a good option cost wise.

I would just have a local shop bend me the rest of the pipe.

So without hating on me too bad do you guys have some existing threads that I have overlooked, or some input on this? and what do you think of the above ideas, should I put a bullet in as a resonator and do something like above?

    Thanks

I had a shitty thrush brand muffler. Don't waste your time. I ended up reaplcing it with a b5 s4 Borla muffler since it is 3 inch. I also have a glasspack in my exhaust.

You can tell me if you like the sound.

What if I ran a Magnaflow Muffler in where the resonator use to be (previous owner didnt replace it, probably rotted off) that has one in, and two out, and just run straight pipes to tips out the back? any negative to this? and since I would be tying into the existing down pipe which is 2" I was thinking just stepping up to 2 1/4 " for the rest of the system, or should the shop be able to adapt it up to 2.5"?

I to something similar. The shop tried to use a muffler with one in and two out but it didn't fit so they use one in and out then to a y pipe. Sounds really good. It's a little drone going up hills. On the highway it's the same as stock just with a better tone. If you are lowered than it will scrape on speedbumps.
