    Noisy Gearbox "Band-aid"

As the title says I am looking for a little relief from my noisy trans.

It's a 6 SPD MT in the '04 A4 1.8T. The trans is only noisy in 1st gear. After reading many of the posts about others having chipped 1st gear issues/noises I can only assume my trans suffers from the same ailment, w/o actually removing and inspecting of course.

At this point I am not prepared to pull the trans and actually repair it so I'll look for an easier temp fix. Currently have Motul 300 in the trans. Not crazy about Redline trans fluid as I had it in my B5 and wasn't impressed.

So far my solution is to use this: https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B6_A4...sion/ES261389/
and some MoS2 bottles and hope for the best.

    Any advice would be great.

Maybe add some liqui Molly trans/engine lube? You can pick up a bottle at Napa for $30 and goes with 4 or 5 quarts of tranny fluid

Bn looking into some additives. The Liqui-Moly MoS2 is prolly what I'll go w/ in the end.

The noise in 1st is most likely from worn out synchronizer gears. Nothing can stop that noise without replacing the synchros.

Though my 2nd was going bad, then
    1. I've replaced my transmission oil with OEM stuff. Helped tremendously, butter smooth with friction from time to time.
    2. Then power flushed the clutch oil. It's now butter smooth and the synchro work as it should.

Mind you, some wear was done, but it's very good now!

My 1st gear has been noisy since I bought the car with 100K. At 130K, I replaced the clutch and changed gear oil. Still noisy. Now at 150K, it's still noisy. My solution, use 2nd gear.

That is in the reservoir behind the Blinker Fluid reservoir in the plenum.

Assuming he's referring to flushing the clutch slave cylinder.
