    Much needed clutch help!

I was on my way to work, downshifting from 4th to 2nd, I was mid-clutch and it felt like a brake in the pedal and then it dropped to the floor.. I pulled it back up with my hand and got about half-pressure back to the pedal. It wouldn't go into any gear unless I held the shifter up against first, the car would start rolling, and eventually drop into gear. I get it to work, put my car on the lift, and I drain everything and pull my slave cylinder as I thought this was the problem. I instal the metal slave in place of my plastic slave with new clutch line so it'd fit in the quick connect fitting. The slave I pulled off didn't look bad and ended up not being the problem. I put fluid back in, bled the line, and I'm still only getting half clutch pedal pressure and the clutch is still not disengaging. With the car in the air, it will start in gear but won't shift into another. I need help, I need my car back. It's a stock clutch with 120,000 miles on it. What else would it be besides my slave cylinder that would cause these symptoms?

Thank you in advance for any advice

Master cylinder, clutch, or clutch component are the only things left to really check. For obvious reasons, check the master cylinder first.
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch

Thank you! That's what I'm doing now, I was just skeptical because I've got half pressure to the pedal. How common is it for the throw out bearing to go? Or what's the most common component to go bad with the 1.8's? And is it possible for the clutch plate to brake in half?

Sorry for the amount of questions, I've literally built a ton of these motors, top and bottom but I've never done a clutch I have the car 10 feet in the air in my garage right now and there's clutch shavings (steel wool looking) inside the bell housing. Does that signify anything?

    Thanks again seerlah

Sounds like you need to replace your clutch and PP. Get a flywheel while you're at it.

I went drag racing with my 1.8t GTRS on a stock clutch. Dumped it a few times and ended up breaking the pressure plate in THREE places. It sounds similar to what you're experiencing. I had to jam it in 1st before it came to a complete stop. Then rev match all of the gear changes. Drove like that for a week because it's my daily, then I could fix it. Luckily I had parts.

Ringer racing is my go-to for clutches also. Dude is really awesome. I called him late at night and he still answered my questions and got me a good setup for all the mods I have.
