    Remote start app

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
We have purchased the 17 Q7 and love it! It would be even more awesome if it had an app that my wife could start the car remotely. Anyone know of anything like this?

Also, any know of any good looking wheels for the Q7 out yet?

    Thanks.

    Remote start app

There was small talk about remote start being an upgradable option with integration into the MMI Connect App, but that quickly faded away with the scrutiny on VAG environmental practices.

If I remember correctly, someone said that theses engines don't flow a sufficient amount of oil at idle to warm the engine. This is why its recommended you should drive away as soon as you start the engine and avoid running at high RPM's while the engine is still warming up.

If you really want one, I heard that Viper has a retrofit kit for Audi, but not sure if it's application to the new Q7

Oh, and I have not seen any options for wheels other than OEM.

Since Audi changed the specs on the wheels on the new Q7 (primarily going to a 5x112 bolt pattern vs 5x130), there are numerous options out there for aftermarket wheels at very reasonable prices. I bought a really nice looking set of Audi replicas from eBay that will be my winter set. One place to start is TireRack.com. Personally, I didn't find anything there I liked, but they have a decent selection & the site has a feature that you can see them on your car. Pay attention to the width & offset.
As a guide - OEM specs for the 2017 Q7 are:
    19 x 8.5 ET28
    20 x 9.0 ET33
    21 x 9.5 ET31
2019 Q8 Prestige, Daytona Gray Pearl
    2019 TTS, Daytona Gray Pearl

    Gone - 2018 Q5 Prestige, Ibis White

    Gone - 2017 A4 Prestige, Glacier White
    Gone - 2013 Q7 S-Line Prestige, Orca Black
Gone - 2013 TTS Prestige, Phantom Black Pearl

Read the second line of his post
"Also, any know of any good looking wheels for the Q7 out yet?"

And - the last line of the first response.........

    From 2017 Q7 Owner's manual (p.81):
"It takes a very long time in idle to warm the engine up to operating temperature. Wear and emissions are especially high in the warm-up phase. Therefore, you should begin driving immediately after starting the engine. Avoid high RPMs while doing this."

What!?! The new Q7s are 5x112 instead of 5x130!?! Are you sure? Crap. My Q7s not gonna be here for another few weeks and I already got wheels for them but they are 5x130. So... Spacers??

Yep - they're definitely 5x112 - now the same as most other Audis. Makes finding wheels much easier.
I've already purchased my winter wheels, got the Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted, & did the test fit - all good.
(Don't feel too bad - I almost got caught off guard also since I came from a 2013 S-line Prestige that had the 5x130 pattern)

Affirm. Yah I agree my current ride is the B8 S4 and I've been dealing with 5x112s (still love the car btw) needed something bigger now with 2 kids so I opt for this big boy. Gonna miss it.

You can get it fitted but by a 3rd party. But from my knowledge, doing so affects the functionality of the key. Ie if you have a smart key, or memory package, these modules need to be disengaged via VCDS in order for the remote start to work..

Do you have pics? How was the fitment? I am in the same boat right now, gotta start getting ready for a Colorado winter pretty soon since my Q7 came with 21"s.
