How to wire backup camera in an Avant?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Or more specifically:
Has anyone successfully fished a composite video plug through the rubber tube betweeen the roof and the hatch (the one that hugs the hinge)?
I need to fish one through the driver's side. After fixing my washer hose on the passenger side, I struggle to see how it could be possible, but sure others have done it, so any clickity click tips would be most welcome.
I don't want to be cutting and splicing the video feed wire.

    Cheers.

You can get the video cable connector through the boot at the hatch lid hinge, by removing the boot from attachment at the body and hatch lid, then lubricating the inside of the boot with dish soap or similar, and pushing the cable connector through the boot. After the connector is pushed through the boot, reattach the ends of the boot to the body and hatch lid after running the cable connector into the hatch lid.

Brilliant! Thank you. The soap did the trick and it went quite smoothly (pun intended!).

I have one in my Avant.

I used a wireless camera and a small screen for the receiver (everything was like 40 bucks on Ebay.

I put the screen up by the sunroof controls and got power for it there.

I got power for the camera in the back by jumping of the windshield wiper. so when I turn on my rear wiper...my back up camera turns on and the signal it sends to the screen turns the screen on.

I am hardwiring mine and I wil tap reverse lights for power and trigger signal. I will eventually get a new stereo with touchscreen and input for the rear camera.

In somewhat related news, I found a purple small vylinder connector on the passenger side D pillar that does have anything plugged into it. It looks like an antenna connector and I'd like to figure out what it's for.
