*Exhaust Wars* - AWE vs Magnaflow vs Millken vs Others?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
If this Thread does not exist already I would like to get it started with people posting videos of their Exhaust mods along with a setup description.
The whole purpose of this is so we have one Thread were people can compare the sound emitted from different setups and have more guidence on which direction to go regarding their exhaust system.

After watching many YouTube videos of cars with both brands and plenty of different setups I just can't decide if I want to do AWE or Magnaflow exhaust or what combination of items to get that sweet sound I'm looking for, so it would be very helpful if people would take a couple minutes to link a video and post their full exhaust setup; Downpipes, x-pipe, resonated, non-resonated, muffler delete, straight pipes? etc... Thanks!

This is the definitive exhaust thread.

Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

I have still yet to find a cost effective awesome sounding one though. Really a shame that they are all so crazy priced for a bit of sound. My friend has full headers and a Borla on his SS and the entire set up was $1,500. Bitch sounds mean as hell but he has the advantage of an insanely sized cams on small block 4.10's help it roll-out the heavy turd it is.

I like the sound from video on that strip pass, and I love love the SC whine.
I watched a couple more videos with the Milltek and it sound pretty good, I would like to hear yours drive-by from outside the car tho.

Pretty good link! Thank you for bringing it up.
I'm kind of bummed no one had a Magnaflow setup tho, since it seems to be my fav still.

Nice!! I had my headphones on due to the many many videos I've been watching; trying not to annoy the fam and I was not expecting the window announcement lmao, you're awesome, thx for the replies.
Sounds great tho! Quite a bit of depth-ness on the drone (from what I can get from video) but I think you could put in a resonator somewhere?? Or a reflective muffler on that and tone it down a bit?? (Which means adding cost to the set-up unfortunately) but my wife and I are seriously liking your setup (Yes the wife approves! ), so I'm thinking I would like to maybe hear it in person sometime and from there decide if some sort of resonator/muffler should be added along (depending on a live demonstration lol)
I live in Fort Collins but I have some family in Co. Springs, maybe we can make that happen. I feel like I already owe you a beer anyways. 🍻

Well the best part is, you can do this setup and then add mufflers later if you decide it's too loud, and it really doesn't cost anything extra to do it in stages. Some magnaflow mufflers would tone it down pretty much where you are looking to be

Yes, aside of your setup I'm really liking a Magnaflow (full set up) one.
Idea: Stock headers + Cats, Add Magnaflow X-Pipe, straight pipe, (Salvage stock mufflers for later?) and add some new shinny Quad tips. 👍🏼

Is there any HUGE difference in HP/TQ numbers adding a cat-back exhaust from the stock one? Doing some digging, all I have found was around 10+ for both. What is the ID size of the stock exhaust?

So what's your whole exhaust setup? Magnaflow or stock what?

    Headers-> Cats/test pipe-> Downpipes res/non-res -> X-Pipe? Res/non res -> *Cutouts* -> Mufflers? Reflect/Absorb -> Tips

Basically trying to paint a picture diagram in my head... So many pieces on this puzzle I know.

To be honest with you the magnaflow catback is pretty terrible until you start modifying it. It was very quiet but somehow very droney and annoying. Im really happy with the sound now and drone has been reduced with the cutouts. But if I had to do it again I would have bought the borla exhaust.

I'll have to check out Borla then.
But the more and more I learn about Magnaflow options the more I like it. Jimrobbington's simple set up (above) still my favorite but it may be too loud for my liking (Drone).
So I'm thinking: Cat-back; Delete stock center resonator add X-pipe non-res, with some reflective mufflers (which I need to find some not too intrusive) or resonators to tone down drone and then finish up with some new quad shinny tips.

love the sound, no drone and since the Revo tune it's a lil louder.... Just love it ! :)

Lol this.... And each watched like 100 times.... I don't even have the car yet - however from my extensive analysis I am personally leaning toward the AWE Touring... With non-res down pipes. It would be great to hear more in person! Anyone live near Rochester NY in here?

How about loud - and cost effective

To piggy back off this thread - who has a loud and cost effective system... Now I know it's easy to make noise for cheap - I'm talking like it maintains the sexy euro sound, not crazy raspy... plus I'm getting the Stronic... Drone for me is not a problem.

From everything I've read in this thread

    x pipe and muffler delete

Seems 2b the best bet for good sound without the $$$ & it won't affect emissions or need tuned etc.

Only issue is if you're like me under warranty :-s

Am I right or am I right?

I'm not getting much from this video the SC whine overpowers exhaust, BUT I'm not done with research, YouTube FTW.
Any other videos from yourself? Maybe windows down? Drive by? Thanks for contributing to the Thread.

Haha it just keeps getting longer and longer sometimes can't even find some that I want to go back and watch... But if I'm spending a good sum of money I want to get this right, and the next mod and the next lol... $$$$$$ 😫

Want more noise? Get non-resonated x-Pipe
