Mid year 2016 SQ5 Grille Change

I'm fairly certain this was posted somewhere before. I searched here, so maybe it was on AudiWorld (searched there too with no results). Anyway, someone mentioned they heard the mid year 2016 SQ5 was getting a grille update, which primarily consisted of the license plate area being removed. I haven't heard anything and have asked folks I thought might know, even my sales guy.

So today I was on Audis site and saw this:

It looks like the update someone was referring to. Anyone else know anything about this?

This is the same-o. What's pictured here is what dealers get in non-front-license-plate states.

Looks just like my 2014 grille.

Ya sure? Because I've never seen this pic before and it doesn't have the plate holder.

I just zoomed in on it. I think you're right. It's the same grill. I think Audi did a little photo choppy shoppy on it. Oh well. 8-)

I ordered mine without the license plate holder.

Mid year 2016 SQ5 Grille Change

Before the plate holder was integrated into the grille so you could had to specify if you wanted with or without it. My 16 had a screw on piece so they had to swap out the grille for one with no holes.

Wish I knew that was an option

Vinyl, body filler, and knife less tape should do the trick. Lol

So are you saying you can order the grille with no plate holder? Essentially eliminating the solid gray horizontal piece that all of us have integrated into the grille?

No. They all have that horizontal piece. It covers the bright aluminum bumper behind it. Those that get the RS-mesh grille have to paint, wrap, or dip it flat black so it isn't hideous.

Got it. That's what I was wondering. I've had my front bumper off more times than I can remember. I know exactly the piece you're talk about.
