Drive around the water box. Stage slowly. Turn of all stability/traction control. Left foot brake to bring revs up until the car starts to push through the brakes and back off a bit. Leave on the third yellow, and have fun.... Also bring a helmet, shoes, and long pants.

Great advice. Just to add; stage shallow, meaning, just barely trip the 2nd stage light then stop. You can get a better 60ft that way. Don't worry about the guy in the next lane, just run your race. Don't worry too much about reaction time (assuming you are running test and tune) as it has zero effect on E.T. Good luck and enjoy. Once bitten you can become a junkie, ask me how I know!

Thanks for your tips. Id like to say i took everything you said and used it well. But i didnt. Got a decent 60ft but i wont go in to my first run its a tad embarrasing what i did.
Mr bean would have done a better job. Pretty sure i need to mess around with tyre pressure next time. Youre right though it is fun. These cars are rapid. Only downside pretty sure i got caught speeding on the way home.

    Congrats on popping your cherry!

Post a slip. No matter how embarrassing you think it is, we all started somewhere! The more you go the better you will get. Seat time is the most important thing when drag racing. Keep us posted.

Here is one of my 1st slips vs. one after some seat time. This was on my bike, but same principles apply with a car.

I do normally but my S6 is a bitch to activate LC. It's hit and miss. I don't know if it's me or the 2016 in particular but i've seen others mention it.
I did it on my second run though.
I checked my tyres last night and they were 43/40 in the front and 38 in the rear it think. local shop had the wheels off 3 days before and hadn't checked them properly from the looks of it. Im going to go back and try after letting it cool right down, i couldn't even touch the engine cover or intake it was so hot before i ran. And also try suspension in comfort as someone kindly suggested.
REVO don't have a race fuel map but they said you can run higher octane so i might give that a whirl eventually. Really going to put the car through its paces.

    Here's my run

Reason i set off later than the Golf R was trying to get LC to work.

    1.775 60
    7.57 1/8th mile
    91.86 ET 1/8th mile
    11.85 1/4 mile ET

Very nice. Glad you didn't pay attention to the guy next to you and just launched. Trying to be competitive can give you a bad run. Sometimes it's nice to blow the doors off the car next to you, but that will come. Just keep putting in time and practice. Running 11.8@114 is great especially or a comfy everyday wagon. Wish they sold the Avant here in the states, for some reason they think us Yankees prefer sport-utes.

Yeah that was quite hard to just not race the guy. But i wanted to get a decent time. Im sure it will improve too. I think preparation will be important next time. I dont know why they dont sell you it either you guys would love it.

I have a tip that you can use at the dragstrip: Switch from Revo to APR or Unitronic. You'll be faster.

The only time I've run into issues with LC on my S6 was when I didn't set the car up properly, or when (it seems) that the trans was too hot and wouldn't allow it.

From your clip, you clearly weren't in LC mode, given that the car doesn't strain against the brakes when LC is active.

    I wouldn't be disappointed with 11.85 - that's pretty quick.

Final comment: L/C doesn't always improve ET - depends on whether the track offers enough traction to prevent a 4-wheel burnout! :-)

It revved to 5k that's LC right?
I know that car was really hot but i was pushed for time so had to just run so maybe that's why LC didn't work every time. That was about the 5th attempt in getting it to work.

I'm not disappointed at all. 11.85 in a 2 ton estate (its not wagon a wagon is what cowboys used :-)
I know i can do much better though. Next time i go run ill prep first get it set up and let it cool before i run. it was a hot day for england standards.

I hit 60 in 3.28 seconds apparently which i was dubious at but checking the time code in go pro studio thats what it says. So its definitely fast. But you know what it's like when you're competing against yourself.
