Installing new ac compressor, ran into a wall. Help?

Hello I just changed out my ac compressor and dryer, as well as some other things. Fast forward I put the radiator and everything back on, ac compressor is in dryer is on, I started the car and am getting a weird noise from the compressor area... Could be power steering though as I changed the high pressure line and might still have some air in the system. Anyway I filled with refrigerant, hooked up vagcom and am showing that the compressor is not getting torque. It should though, I put in a brand new nissens compressor from fcp euro and driveshaft from ecs. I ran a vacuum on the system for an hour before I did this. Once I put refrigerant in the dryer got really cold but no cold air. I'm kinda stuck and don't know what I could have done wrong. Anyone do this before and can shed some light?

Did you put any oil in the new compressor before starting the car up?

Some of them come without any refrigerant oil inside and it will burn the new one up without proper lubrication

Yes it came pre filled with the correct amount, and I have a back up bottle too just in case. I just started the car and the driveshaft isn't spinning

Just pulled it all back apart and the driveshaft is still good. I'm stumped

I removed the driveshaft from the compressor, marked it, put it in the spot it's supposed to sit in, cranked the car the tiniest bit and it spins. It sits in there tight. I'm confused. Does the ac not get torque until it has refrigerant

Okay last think I noticed. If I remove the driveshaft from the compressor and stick it in, the spines line up with the teeth and it's nice and tight, I can push the driveshaft further in though, and then the splines go past the teeth and it spins freely. When I put the compressor in and everything together, the driveshaft is too far inside and is past the teeth. What do I do about this

Hmmm hopefully the splines on the drive gear in the timing chain system aren't stripped. Have you compared the length of the new driveshaft to the one you took off? Mine did the same thing where it would disengage if I pushed it all the way back, but I didn't have any problems with it not spinning with the compressor installed.

the driveshaft is supposed to disengage when you push it all the way back. But obviously it shouldn't be disengaged once it's connected to the compressor. Either the splines are stripped (sorry to say that's my guess and it's a big deal - requires removal of the rear timing covers), or you have the wrong driveshaft which is too long (I don't know if a longer one is made but that could explain it), the compressor wasn't built with the proper spacing at the driveplate (it's not unheard of for aftermarket parts to be slightly different in some ways so it could be possible that the manufacturer messed that up, but not likely), or there is a problem with the mounting of the compressor (although I don't think it's possible to mount it too far forward). You didn't remove the adapter plate behind the compressor and then forget to reinstall it, did you?
