Question Ignition taking several seconds to turn over

Searched for details, but my keywords must be lacking.
    110K 2009 B8 Quattro.

For years my trusty B8 has started immediately with a push of the keyfob. For the past 2 weeks I have to hold the fob in for 2-5 seconds for the car to turnover. I don't suspect a battery issue (replaced about 5 months ago), could this be the starter?

Background, I am also throwing the P0299 code and will require a mod to my waste gate actuator or a new turbo in my future. Depressing, but not sure this is tied to my ignition issue that just popped up.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like your timing tensioner. Check out my thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-Now-with-Pics

Are you sure that's the 'only' code you're throwing?

Hmmm, i only have an issue with turning mine on in the mornings every now and then. It doesnt want to start so i turn it back off and it starts the 2nd time. It happens occasionally but i think its the hpfp or the fuel filter causing it.

Ignition taking several seconds to turn over

Had the same issue. I ignored it for about week, suddenly the chain went, after that I couldn't even start the car... No compression at all. All fixed now tho, with new timing chain and tensioner

Edit: also had P0016 bank 1 sensor a

Thanks for the info. Did you do it yourself or take it to a garage? How much did it set you back, if you don't mind?

Well, it's been a good run to 110 with only the oil consumption issue.

Yeah man I wouldn't drive the car until that's resolved. Sorry to hear about your issue. These are getting more a lot more common as the cars age.
