Replacement Recommendations for Continental ExtremeContact DW

A few months ago I had to give my avant over to my wife with hesitation.....All my wheels had 0 curbage after 10 years of me driving it and I asked her if she could drive it without hitting curbs. I said I's swap on some 17's for her. She said she was fine and could drive it without issue. Well, three months later that been proven to be false. One wheel has been clobbered. So now I'm thinking I might look for another summer/wet tire that has a protection lip on them. I really like the performance of the Conti but it has 0 lip on it. Was wondering if anyone here has any experience with other tires to look at. The bigger the lip the better. I need something that is good all around wet and dry.

The Conti Control Contact Sport A/S from Discount Tire has a lot more of a lip than my Yoko Advan Sports did. The Contis aren't bad.

It does look like the Conti A/S has more lip than my DW. I wonder why that is. I want to figure out which one has the most protection and see if I can deal with the performance/wear/ride.
