Been feeling some strange surges lately. Thought I was making it up but put my VCDS on it. Sure enough, P2261, which is an N249 code. Can that be done from above? Looks pretty cramped, but not sure there would be a lot more room from below.

You have to go under. It's easy if you have a 1/4 in small wrench with the right extension and a good flash light. Obviously need jack stands and need to remove the belly pan. First time was an hour and a half because I didn't have the perfectly sized extension. Now it can be done in 20 minutes or less with belly pan removed

Looks like the DV valve would be easier than this #$%^&! little N249. Looks like the biggest pain will be getting all 3 vacuum hose back on right. No hope of doing a factory crimp type clamp, will have to do a worm drive type hose clamp and even that will be a tight fit without pulling the front out.

I'm thoroughly confused. Some things I read make me think the N249 is the little vacuum solenoid on the side of the diverter valve that tells it whether to open or shut. Other things I read make me think N249 is the DV itself.

What you're talking about is the N75 Valve. The wastegate actuator valve

Yea thanks. I've come to that conclusion, but if you Google n249 images, you'll see that valve a lot. But RossTech's page on that error is all about the diverter valve.
