Does anyone know why replacing my headlight switch would cause the lights to just be auto on all the time? It's driving me nuts

Did you get OEM or aftermarket? I got an aftermarket once and it kept them auto on all the time and it was a cheap knock off. I put the OEM back on and it worked properly (the issue I was having wasn't related to the switch as I found out).

I have both an OEM one and a cheapy with the same symptom. I put the cheapy in, then it got stuck on auto so I bought an OEM from Audi and it's the same. I ready somewhere about someone having to VAG it for their region after switch replacement. Anyone heard of that?
