    Porsche 18z Question

Who is running Mercedes GL350 rotors? I thought I saw someone running them instead of the ML55AMG rotors. They're 350mm vs. 345mm on the ML, so I'm wondering what was needed to make these work with the kit. I know the ML rotors are easy peasy and only require removing 1mm from the center bore with a sanding wheel. If it's just as simple on the GL rotors, I may as well go that route.

    Thanks.

Im pretty sure its ML55 rotors for the 18z.

Thats the only rotor worth using. i think its 350x32 Theres no point in trying to reinvent the wheel with the 18z setup.

OP is right that they are 345 mm (which is the major complaint). I run 17z pads on my 18z to avoid having that 5mm overhang. But I agree, don't need to reinvent the wheel. And if you're worried about a perfect fit, go to JHM.

You could always buy a rotor and give it a shot. Someone has to do things first. I almost went the 17z/18z route, but saw a good deal on a Brembo GT setup with 2 piece rotors.

I'm thinking the same thing. I should've also mentioned it's the GL450 that has the 350mm rotors. I checked other forums; apparently they fit well, but need rotor rings.

    GL350 has a 350mm rotor also:

    http://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-t...?checkfit=true

Buy the cheapy from autozone and test fit. If it works great, if not return it.

Bore diameter is 67mm, so you will need a rotor ring. Have a machine shop make you a set of nice stainless rings and be good to go forever.

If the bore size is 67mm then it will need to be opened up by 1mm, no rings required. Also if the machine shop does a clean job I'm sure no one at auto zone would notice they were bored out.

I was thinking wheel center bore, my bad. I just measured a spare front hub I have and the rotor needs to be 68.1mm. Should be easy as long as the rotor offsets are correct.

You could also run the B6/B7 S4 rotors which are 345mm I believe. But you'll have to shave 20 thousandths mm from the mounting tabs on the calipers (all of this is what I've been told from the person I bought my kit from and it all has worked fine for me).

Yeah, I never wanted to do that.
