    ROC-Euro Install - S7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Guys,

Here is a quick set of installation instructions for the ROC-Euro intake for the S7 since the intake does not ship with instructions - this is applicable to the RS7 and S6 models as well.

As I was moving from an AWE S-Flow Carbon intake, Ive not provided any instructions on removing the standard airbox. Suffice to say, the hardest part (that I recall) was removing the bellow connections to the turbo intakes, as the heat from the turbo units had effectively "welded" the bellow connector to the intake pipes - some gentle persuasion with a flat screwdriver finally got them moving.

So this is what I started with, and was an easy removal - undo the jubilee clips on the intake pipes and remove the two screws holding the front of the intake box to the air scoop. Unit came out as a single piece, so no need to dismantle.

This is what I was fitting:

Once you remove the factory/AWE airbox, you can see the three push-fit mounting points. You completely remove the two mounting points as marked by the arrows. (They are simple push fits - remove the central foam insert, then pinch the tabs to remove the holder)

You should now have two of these showing:

Mystery of where the drywall plugs go is solved. The heat deflector plate only fits one way, drop the drywall butterflies into the hole(s) and tighten up.

Assemble the intake - you may have to play around with the filters and jubilee clip - to get the best position so they are not seen once fitted (I have to adjust my top filter as the silver filter seam is showing)

From here on in, its pretty obvious what to do next. You may have to adjust the final resting places of both intakes, to ensure your not going to be rubbing against anything. The pipes themselves rest on the heat deflector plate you installed earlier. Larger pipe first, smaller pipe sits over larger.

Not much clearance here - close to my matrix headlight loom, so will keep an eye on this to check for any chaffing.

Job Done - Note that I refitted my OEM air intake pipe - If your coming from the stock intake, you will leave this part in place.

Now, I know a lot of you guys are complaining about slow deliveries, poor comms from John and questionable power gains. My total wait time was about 9 weeks from placing the order to getting the shipping email. (For those of you in the UK, I had to pay customs import duty of £85 on top of the purchase and shipping costs)
Ive not dynode my S7, and don't intend to. So I will leave you with this comment. The S7 sounds freaking AWSOME with the ROC-E's installed. 110% better than stock, and way, way better than the AWE S-Flow box. If you've ordered, it will be WORTH the wait!

    Cheers,
    JW.

The problem with trying to get a video/recording of the sound is that you have to be moving/accelerating with the window down in order to capture said sound. Unfortunately I don't have a GOPRO (or equivalent) and all you can hear is wind noise when I try using my phone LoL.

yeah the wind noise makes it really hard to capture it. Also on that fly by I thought it would be a lot louder but there is road noise with other cars and it didn't really come out how I thought it would.

Oh yeah don't mind my 3 year old laughing every time he hears the blow off valve.

I had the Injen on my A7 3.0T. Its a good piece of kit, and allows the superchargers to breath easier. If your a fan of hearing your car perform, you wont be disappointed with the Injen intake.

If the Injen was available for the 4.0TT, I would have likely purchased Injen over the AWE S-Flow.

Here it is on my A7

Not so sure about the roc intake personally, if you look at where the air is coming in, looks to me like 80%+ of that air is hitting the lower filter and not much at all is reaching the other filter, one of the turbos is getting a workout at least. Just how it looks to me could be wrong though.

So you like the Injen setup better and SIUND is decent?

No sound clip, sorry. Suffice to say the supercharger spin up is significantly louder than stock (which I like)

No need for a heat shield, as the filter end literally sits within the original filter housing, so is being fed cold air from the front scoop.

I like the USP setup with its larger pipes somewhat "similar" to the Injen I guess, or the Revo, which is basically just a factory RS7 air box. I will be keeping the factory box in my car and just replacing the restrictive filter with a high flow filter.
I'm sure the roc intake is very good I know a lot of people seem to like it and I'm certainly no expert, everyone has there own preferences.

    Cheers

Injen might not fit the 2016+ 3.0T models unless you want to remove the stock airbox completely.

The thing about forced induction is it doesn't matter where the air around the filters wants to hit or be, it's going in both of them equally since each one feeds a turbo. This is also why worrying incessantly about how cold that side of the intake process is, is sort of misplaced effort. There's a temp delta going through the turbos and a much more important delta based on how effective your intercooling is.

If you're supremely worried, go meth. It doesn't seem to be much of an issue and since the exhaust side--the hot side--of the engine is down the middle, the sides don't get that hot

Slovenian tin exhaust, some worthless intake that isn't the SRM yet, cete valve controller because the akra one doesn't work properly on c7.5, apr stage 1 ecu/tcu, 5(five) bbs ci-r's because my car loves potholes, Eurocode sways/links, Eurocode alu-kreuz, and an undying love of hard parking

Thanks for the write-up. I installed mine on my S6 this afternoon and the guide was very helpful. For those needing a write-up on how to remove the stock box, take a look at the write-up on the AWE intake, as theirs includes stock box removal, however you only need to do steps 6 and 7 (after removing the engine cover) as you are leaving the inlet scoop intact.

As far as level of difficulty, you don't need to be a mechanic, but just have common sense and use the guides. It took me 45 minutes start to finish, and I was going very slowly and carefully. If I had to do it again, I would say 20 minutes tops.

sounds decent on the iphone6+. I'd love to get it on a zoom mic or something similar, but I can't see spending 1~200 to make car videos 3 times :)

I just did this and it was a PITA I let the toggles fall in to the frame rail. You should notice a good size rubber plug on the outer aspect of the frame rail- pull that out and you can dish out the toggles with either a magnetic stick or a coat hangar, which I ultimately used to fish them out. There might be a smarter/easier way, but it worked
