    EVAP Emissions Control?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My RS4 is now throwing a check engine light for:

1109 1 P0455 EVAP Emissions Contr. Sys (Gross Leak) Leak Detected (Upper limit exceeded static)

1089 2 P0441 EVAP Emissions Contr. Sys. Incorrect Purge Flow (Lower limit not reached static)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and yes my gas cap is securely fastened.

hrm, it's showing flow and pressure problems but it's not showing DTCs for the purge valve, leak detection pump, etc. assuming there's not a puddle of gasoline under your car from a cracked fuel line or tank, it could be a loose vacuum connector or cracked line (both of which can happen during a service).

what did they do to your car? i'm not sure about RS4s, but on S4s the evap system is mostly a mass of hoses and components between the airbox and the cabin air intake; there is also the LDP in the rear driver's side wheel well. any work around there could have done something. the fuel lines run from the tank to under the passenger side and then up into the engine bay. those are hard to disturb, unless the car is improperly jacked up (unlikely at a dealer - mmm, RS4 jack pads - but not impossible).

Emilio, I should have prefaced with I was showing this error even before I went to the dealer. I'm just trying to have to avoid paying an arm and a leg for them to fix whatever it is.

oh, hmm, if it's not related to the recent work then it could be a component that's cracked under normal use. i'm not sure if "incorrect purge flow" discriminates between the fuel tank and pump area, or the evap canister and valve area. the valve is easy to inspect, but i've never seen the charcoal canister up close; the fuel tank is obviously a pain to inspect, but the LDP doesn't seem like a huge hassle (just a moderate one).

how's your mileage? have you noticed any fuel smells, especially around your airbox?

What valve are you referring to? I am at 87k. No fuel smells at all. Could it be the fuel pump? Filter?

evap purge valve on S4s is a small, short black cylinder mounted on the rear top of the airbox; i imagine RS4s are similar. it will have tubes going in and out axially, plus an electrical connector.
