    Tip chip

I have a stage 3 2000 A6 2.7t with epl tune and K04 turbos and have been trying to find a dealer who sells tip chips for these cars. I am dealing with the annoying gear hunting issue. I was working with JHM motosports at one point but there chip kept putting my car in limp mode, which I am wondering if it was related to my car being an early model. I contacted 034motorsports and they will only give me one if I but their ECU tune. I was in the process of getting one from DAZ at VAG autowerks, but as your know he unfortunately recently passed away. Any other options out there?

I got mine back in the day from JHM and it worked fine. What problem are you getting? Any CELs?

I never left my foot planted with stage 3 power on shifts with my tip either

Sure you can, but its not advisable is all I am saying. I put the daz chip in another stg3 allroad and still the 5hp19 hates that much power but makes it significantly better.

So with Daz' unfortunate passing, what other options are out there? I've heard great things about VAST's TCU tune, but a google search leads me to believe they're out of business? (Sorry i'm relatively new to Audi community)
    Unitronic?

Have you looked into the "00032" recode? I've been reading about that lately for my 4.2

I just came across a post where it was recommended to use the unitronic tuning software or lemminwinks and change channel 12 which is the torque scaling option from 100% to 90% and it will supposedly get rid of the gear hunting by reducing the increased torque that is seen in 5th gear causing it to jump around to 4th.

As I understand, this was just a soft recode that only held 1st gear to redline in tip mode only. People stated that it did not change any other transmission behavior other than that.

It also disabled the DSP features in the TCM, basically the transmission will no longer "learn" your driving style and become either aggressive or conservative in it's shift selection over time.

Check out this link about using lemmiwinks to fix the gear hunting problem. I would be interested to know by anyone if this would actually work.
