Super bright red ambient lighting mod!

Anyone done it yet?

I'm talking about increasing the brightness of the door handle red led strip, and overhead ambient lighting red led's.

Did this in my B5, and it was very nice.

Would appreciate a link to a DIY or quick desc... already searched, came up empty.

Looked through all the VCDS modules and coding options as well, nothing looks promising.

Talking about something like this:

Yes there is, unfortunately even with the cluster & ambient lighting at full bright, it's barely noticeable.

On my B5 I took the doorpanel off, drilled holes and added aftermarket leds. Looked 100% OEM. Not sure I want to do that on the B8 - it was a good bit of work.

My old 335i had really cool ambient lighting in it. That was really the only thing I liked about that interior compared to S4.

This seems relevant; you can probably figure out how to modify the instructions to increase the door LED brightness (different ballast or just a brighter LED)

Much appreciated. I had reviewed that, and the other projects on his site. Well written articles. Not as motivated to tear into this car as I did with the B5. Guess I'm too old for all that now. Was hoping to discover a way to increase the brightness of the existing door handle lighting without making it too much of a project. Bookmarked the link in case I change my mind.

I just emailed David from AudiEnthusiasts if this is something he's attempted. It seems similar to "Enable Adjustable Ambiance/Background lighting (Foot Lighting)" which he has on his site. I'll let you know if I get any response.
