if engine comes out does the ECU need to be reflashed?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Wife managed to prang the front of my car last week (lesson learned - don't let your better halves drive your baby).

The engine needs to come out as the engine bay frame rails needs to be realigned. I have the Stasis tune and, of course with them no longer being around, that means I won't have the tune IF it does need recalibrating.
Does anyone know if the ECU needs to be retuned/reflashed after putting the engine back in?

If it does, and I need to get another stage 1 tune - who do I go to - APR? AWE?

It should not need recalibrating, but I could be wrong?

No, if the tune is programmed to the ecu, you could put in a brand new engine [albiet the exact same model] and the tune will still be there. only way you will loose it is if dealer flashed ecu or you replace the ecu.

When the motor is removed they will take the ECU with it. Kind of like this, notice the ECU on top of the motor...

Contact Revo. They were going to support stasis customers going forward if I'm not mistaken.

The guy is having the engine pulled because they need access to the frame rails when they put it on the straightening jig. The same engine will go back into the car. regaurdless if they take the whole loom/ecu out with it. Unless it's "flashed" or a new one installed it will not affect the tune.

If they are taking the engine out then they will have to take the ECU with it unless they undo every connector on the engine and undo the wiring harness. Which no one would do since that is a waste of time. They will pull the ECU and its harness with the engine.

What is hard for some to understand? It does not matter if the ecu comes out or stays in. As long as it is not flashed or a new one replaced with the old unit the tune will be fine.

To the op. Is the engine damaged and requires replacement? Or is the only thing being done is engine removal for frame straightening and the original engine going back in? If it's just a temp removal then your tune will be fine.

The same engine is going back into the vehicle from what I am gathering on the original post; they are removing it just the realign the engine rail. The ECU would not need to be reflashed for any reason.
