Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all,

I'm looking get my front bumper repainted to fix some rock chips and imperfections. What is the average cost these days to reprint the entire front bumper?

Once the bumper is repainted I plan on getting Xpel protective film to protect the front bumper.

    Thanks in advance

I have been thinking about this as well, however I have heard some say that if you get the film put on when it's just been painted it may cause issues when taking the film off (taking the paint off with it)....not for sure the truth of this

I had my bumper and hood resprayed and blended into the fenders. That set me back $1200 (very good quality paint job though). I imagine it would set you back probably $500-$700 to make sure it's blended correctly into the fenders and hood.

That's actually not that bad. Seems the smarter way to do it. I'd imagine if ones bumper has some chips their is probably a few chips on the hood just because the car is low etc etc. Getting the hood done might be smart as well as the fenders blended.

A quality bumper scuff & spray job is probably about $4-$450 if you wanted them to re-install the bumper & remove it.

I'll probably let mine go this winter & give the bumper a re-spray after after this coming winter. Just had my deep sea blue multi stage polished & looks beautiful!

Probably the best shop in my area quoted me somewhere in the neighborhood of $475 to have my bumper fully repainted and reinstalled.

When you say blended, do you mean color matched? The front bumper would ideally be removed to be pained so there would be no blending into other panels and to be honest, there's no such a thing as blending into a panel on a good paint job, it's either a fully pained panel or a panel with an obvious paint job.

I own a shop in Westchester. We usually charge 650 for a bumper refinish. This includes light repair, full overhaul ( taking cover off the car and stripping down before refinish) and reinstallation. Things to make sure when getting a cover refinished is 1. That they aren't going to just tape off all the moldings and paint it on the car which is a horrible way to paint a bumper 2. That they use flex additive in their paint to make sure the paint can flex with the bumper and 3. That the use quality paint and are good at matching the color.

I would also give the paint plenty of time to cure and harden before you put any film on it. If you don't then when you remove the film it may take the paint off with it. Also once it's painted wait at least a week before you take it for a ride where rocks can be kicked up to the front. In the first week the paint will still be pretty soft and will chip a lot easier then it usually does.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Sadly if i ever do choose to get mine done, i think Deep Sea Blue Pearl is one of the more expensive colors. Figures

A good shop should be able to get the color to match perfectly (unless your paint has faded a lot, or has a very unique color flake like panther black metallic for example.

I had my rear bumper and my spoiler was refinished and paint matched and nobody can even tell that its new paint. 100% perfect. No blending with any other body panels needed.
