Bixenon ecodes from Europe - DRL?, OEM/Valeo?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello guys,

My sister is buying me a gift - bixenon ecodes for my 2008 halogen audi a5. While I was researching, I came across option of lights with DRL and without DRL. After looking at several pics, I can't really tell the difference - if anybody has links to pics, that would be great.

So if you were to get a gift, which one would you pick (w/DRL or w/o DRL) and why. Is the wiring any different for the ones with DRL?

Also if you had to choose between, OEM, Valeo or Depo (not sure if they even make them, but i read somewhere they do), which one would you pick and why?

    Thanks much!

DRL 100%. a5's without DRL's are ugly as a sin IMO

non DRL's are halogen lights, so its not even bixenon.

If you are fitting the OE/M bi-xenon headlights they will have LED DRL. Only the halogen and maybe some odd aftermarket xenon lights are missing the LED DRL. Also note that when upgrading from halogen to bi-xenon you do need complete headlights with all of the bulbs, ballasts, etc along with harnesses to adapt. Avoid the AFS (curve lighting) bi-xenon headlights for your application.

If you are in need of some assistance and pricing don't hesitate to contact or have your sister contact via PM or email: [email protected]

I see you linked a UK site. Isn't it advised not to get UK version Ecodes because of the RHD light setup? Or am I mistaken?

Haha! Not you, you keep dumping and enjoying it. The bathroom is sometimes a man's only refuge. I was just busting the OP's balls on the post. It's clear there's some confusion since there is no option for bixenons without DRL and Valeo is OEM. I think you and Alex did an admirable job clarifying.

The genuine or OEM bi-xenon e-code headlights all have LED which are the DRL.

The genuine or OEM bi-xenon e-code headlights all have a light called a city light which a small parking lamp that can be wired up on NA models, but not everyone does this.

The genuine or OEM bi-xenon North American headlights all have LED which are the DRL and orange side markers but no city lights.

If you are looking at aftermarket lights you would need to contact the seller or the manufacturer for more information. There are aftermarket lights out there and they are not all built like genuine or OEM lighting. Those I cannot comment on.
