Hello everyone. I am a newbie to the world of Audi's and Audizine. I have decided to post a little thread with my mythos black 2016 A3 2.0 Quattro. initially I was just planning on keeping the car completely stock but after reading countless threads and posts from this website as well as others I've decided to go down the mod path. This car will be primarily my DD but will also be doing occasional HPDE events throughout the year thanks to a friend I have who owns a insane bright blue Hyundai who has talked me into what a good idea it is to thrash your perfectly good car around a racetrack. With this in mind this car will be more performance oriented with build than looks. During the past couple of months I have installed a APR Cold Air Intake, a APR Oil Catch Can, APR Turbo Muffler Delete and a APR Stage 1 ECU and TCU tune. With just those initial mods I can say the car changed quite dramatically! As countless others have said on various threads, the car completely comes alive. Not that it was a slouch by any means stock, but now it is a whole different car. The power and acceleration difference is very dramatic. Being a turbo car there's still a fair amount of turbo lag at lower RPM's say below 3000, but once over that the car comes alive. Another thing I have noticed with quite a bit of freeway driving I do, my gas mileage has increased by 2-3 MPG! Basically the car is running more efficient now than stock. Anyone out there that's on the fence with this I would say get off and just do it, you'll love your car! Now, with that being said, with this additional power I decided to go out and participate in a couple of HPDE events past this spring. With the big increase in power, the other shortcomings of the car such as being able to stop and grip the road on the stock tires became massively apparent! Even though I had Motul RBF 600 brake fluid installed with EBC Yellowstuff Pads, the stock rotors and calipers were crying uncle by giving me massive brake fade and a very spongy pedal. Oh yea, and those stock Conti Pro Contact tires? Well let's just say they didn't have such a good time either. So, with all being said, next week the car will be heading to NGP Performance in Lorton VA and will be outfitted with a shiny new set of 10 Pot Tarox brakes, H&R Sport Springs, H&R rear sway bar, and some shiny new 19" VMR V804 Wheels with Michilen Pilot Super Sports. I'll send pics of before and after the install. In hindsight, the S3 would of been a better vehicle for my "needs", however eventually this little A3 will be the best it can be..more to come...

18X7.5 I believe. Stock tires 225/40 Not sure of the weight. Going to go 19X8.5 VMR's forged, weight 20.5 lb a wheel.

Well, today was supposed to be the Tarox BBK Kit, VMR wheels, and H&R Sport Springs install. I managed to get one of those items done, the Springs. It seems Tarox sent a wrong caliper mounting bracket, and it looks like FedEx likes my wheels more than I do and has decided to deliver them next Monday or Tuesday. Anyway here are a few pics of the Springs. I like the way the car sits and feels now. It seems close to my OEM sport springs as far as ride goes, a bit more firm for sure but not bad. I was able to take a couple of off ramps at speed and the car is without a doubt flatter and feels more planted. Coilovers may end up on my car eventually, but this will do fine for my needs for now. So, in holding mode till Tarox ships the correct brackets, till then...

Well, still no BBK yet, but the VMR's and the PSS are on! Working with Victor at VMR was a pleasure. The wheels shipped a bit late, however they are very high quality and took very minimal weights to get things balanced up. I also had NGP Racing install some 034 Motorsports rear subframe inserts and a dogbone insert to help the DSG a bit. I can say the car feels really solid and is a absolute pleasure to drive now. Next update soon I hope with the BBK install....

Those are V804s right? When did you order them? I tried several weeks ago but every place is telling me they're backordered until the end of July.

Bigxie, call VMR directly. They took about 2 weeks to arrive.
Saxon, yea, a bit too nice for track maybe, but I'm only doing a few events a year. Yea, coilovers coming eventually in my future.

I wish. Waiting for Tarox to get me correct caliper brackets. They had to be machined from scratch in Italy. Hopefully another week or so..

Sweet! So you only have springs on it with 19" wheels to get that stance and look?

Well the Tarox BBK kit was finally installed by Steve at NGP Performance today. As you can see quite a dramatic difference. Initial pedal feel is a bit soft, but very OEM like. Really won't know what these babies will do till the next HPDE event so I'll do a full review after that. Next week I'll try and post some hi-res pics, weather permitting..

    OEM

Just wanted to leave a quick follow up on the Tarox BBK kit. I've done 3 HPDE track days on them, 1 at Summit Point WV on the main course, and 2 days at VIR. One day was on the full course, the other on the grand course. All I can say is the power and modulation they have is pretty incredible. I can honestly say I did not experience any fade whatsoever on them. I even had instructors who commented on the stopping power of them. I do have a bit of a shudder now during normal driving which I believe is my fault for leaving my foot on the brakes right as I came in from a session. It wasn't long, however a very visible pad imprint on the front rotors is clearly visible. I am slowly working through the material while daily driving and it is slowly improving. I will be putting new pads on in the spring and expect the residue to be completely worn off by then. Anybody considering putting these on, you won't be disappointed..

You could likely just re-bed the brakes to remove the excess material build up/hotspot. I had the same thing happen with my Stop Tech kit not long after installing it. Very minor vibration when braking but re-bedding them took care of it. Give it a shot if you can find a good back road or a nice big empty parking lot.
