Winter tire storage?

I have limited space and storing my tires in my garage attic seems to be a win win.

Then I got to thinking...extreme heat or cold are not good on tires, this caused me to do some research.

Everyone claims heat (attic) is not good on tires. Tires get much hotter while in use then an attic would ever hear up to.

Anyone care to chime in?

Why not just wall mount them? Not only is it out of your way, but it won't take up much room and it's nice wall art :)

I have 2 bikes, leaf blower, lawn chairs etc on the walls, not enough room lol

I had the my local tire shop swap out my winters for summers this year. They offered to store them for the season for $75. After hauling my summers out of the basement and then the thought of lugging the winters back down there, I just left them at the tire shop. I had thought of just getting a floor jack and swapping myself, but I got lazy. lol.

I've been keeping my in my shed, which is a bit colder/hotter than the garage. I haven't noticed any issues, but I like that set of wall mounts!

I bought the Audi totes with protectors for when my new wheels come. I'll stick my oem in the attic or basement to get more space in the garage. I wouldn't even think twice about the attic and worry about heat or cold. But that's me.

Surely you could move leaf blows and lawn chairs, hang those from the ceiling if you have room. I have a wall mounted set up that doesn't take up too much space, a bit wider than 4 wheels for my winters/summers.

Tire Rack brand tire storage, I don't have winter tires living in Phoenix, but us it for extra race tires.

I have an unfinished basement, which remains equal temp-wise year round. I dump them there.

Here's Tire Rack's "Tire Tech" article on tire storage. I keep mine in a cool dry basement but if you haven't got a basement, that's a problem. Any parents, siblings or relatives/friends that have a basement and who'd be willing to let you use the small amount of space a stack of tires would require? Make sure they're cleaned first!

I have those same hangers. Except I only have two. They can support two wheels each.

I really like how the 4 wheels look across. Plus, with having 4 cars it gives me the flexibility of adding another set of wheels to the wall
