    Removal of Tape residue

Earlier this year I had to tape off my sunroof due to the dreaded rain tray issue on the Avant. Fast forward to sunny days and no rain - peel off the tape and now I have a bunch of residue left. Got some of it off with WD40 and Goo Gone but the rest is a stubborn b****! Any suggestions?

    Heat gun?

Edit: I was recommended rubbing alcohol and finish off with a wax/sealant.

    Thanks,

Use denatured alcohol and wipe light with a rag then cover with wax

It depends on the type of adhesive used on the tape. IPA (rubbing alcohol) will typically clean the actual adhesive but won't remove the rubber/gum binding agents. Nor will it touch any silicone release additives. In my experience a product made by 3M, that's conveniently called 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, is what you're looking for.

Thanks all. Adding a picture in few moments. Maybe that will help to determine what product to use.

    Edit. Pic attached.

First off, don't use duct tape.
Anyway like I said, 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner will do the trick. As a side note, for short term taping jobs gaffer's tape does about 90% of what duct tape does without leaving all that crap behind. It's a bit spendy, but you'll save on the elbow grease come removal time.

Great info! It was a last minute thing.. pouring down and leaking into seats etc. I will pick up the 3M cleaner.

I have always used a tin of Mothers Carnuba cleaner wax. It takes off the glue and residue and does not hurt the paint or anything. Smells good too.

Thanks Chris! I will let you all know how it turns out over the weekend. JUST picked up the 3M Cleaner and have 91% Alcohol at home so I should be successful.
