After doing lots of research in the forums I am still left without definite answers for my exhaust setup.
2007 B7 S-line 6 speed, APR stage 1, Carbonio intake, ST coils, STaSIS exhuast.
The stock B7 A4 2.0T exhaust sounds like a tesla in my opinion... I have just installed a 2.5" stainless downpipe after the stock Cat then coupled to a STaSIS resonated exhaust. Now the exhaust sounds like it should have from the factory. Still quiet but a better tone for sure.
My question is how to make it a bit louder without going over board. It's still too quiet and I do have to pass NY State inspection.
Has anyone cut out their resonators for more sound? Does this cause unbearable drone?
Or
Can an APR stage 1 tune work with no issues if I buy a HFC? I do not want to go to Stage 2 because NYS inspection does not allow 1 single monitor to show "not ready" which is what the tune does for the 2nd O2 sensor (recent NYS change).
Any input and past experience is greatly appreciated. I know the power increase of HFC, I just do not want to deal with CEL's so it would be easier to cut out the resonators as long as an un-resonated exhaust isn't awful.
Cheers
