In the following picture you can see the white timing marks. Looks like its off by one tooth. Is this bad? Do the white marks mean its been changed once or is it like that from the factory? It has 180000kms and previous owner didnt know if it has ever been changed. Can you tell??? Thanks!

White mark is probably from a TB service, so it was likely changed. What makes you think it's off by a tooth? Just because the paint mark doesn't line up with the arrow doesn't mean anything. It's just where the engine stopped. See if you can get service records from your local dealership. Or ask them if they can check whether they have a TB job in the history.

Thanks eljay. Right its just where the cam sprocket stopped. Found out that continental used QR codes on their belts in 2012-13 which this one has so that is good news!!
