The X34 Carbon Fiber Audi MQB Cold Air Intake System for 8V/8S Audi A3/S3/TT/TTS & MkVII Volkswagen Golf/GTI/R equipped with 1.8T/2.0T Gen 3 engines has arrived! The coupler gives the needed flex, there is a 2-3 inch gap between the turbo inlet and the end of the carbon fiber tube. I had the same concerns (with this and other intakes) and once installed you can feel the needed flex. I ran this intake all day at the track (5/23) and had no issues and rechecked fitment after each session (I had thermo couplers installed so was adjusting those and had to take the intake off a few times).
Once I have time to compile all the data I plan on posting the results up!

Good question! As Aaron mentioned, the silicone coupler between the turbo and inlet tube allows for sufficient flex, given that the intake is not solid-mounted to the core support. The airbox mounting allows for some movement, as does the coupler, which is more than enough to accommodate engine movement.

We've been running a much more fragile printed plastic version of this intake in our S3 for about a year now, and it has held up to countless track days, launches, and a number of visits to the drag strip.

I recently bought a CPO Mk7 Volkswagen GTI, which shares the engine/turbo setup with the 8S Audi TT & 8V Audi A3. I made it almost a whole week after bringing the car to work to start tinkering. Progress!

Since the car already had a mystery tune on it, I decided to use the opportunity to do some before and after testing of our X34 MQB Intake. Installation only took about 30 minutes, including the obligatory picture-taking.



Below is the best run on the stock airbox, compared to the best run with the X34 installed. Even I was pretty surprised by the gains!

thats cool, but really, who would care about 6hp/7tq. at that point its more about looks than function and i think both look great :)

spoke with laszlo on facebook and it seems with stage 2 the gains are there, especially in the higher rpm where it doesnt make more peak hp, but instead carries that peak further out

I installed our X34 Mk7 GTI Intake about a month ago, and was thrilled with the gains.

With no changes besides the intake, the Stage 1 2.0T picked up 9 wheel horsepower and 9 wheel foot pounds of torque at peak, with peak gains of over 25 WTQ and 30 WHP towards redline.

While we already tested modifications to the inlet duct at the core support extensively last year, it seems that people are still interested in this modification even if it doesn't make much (if any) power on stock turbo setups. So, we printed up this neat little part for some further testing.



The extra sound is pretty nice, and we'll be evaluating it further in the coming weeks. :)
