    Hey Guys,
I'm planning to add non-res down pipes to my AWE system, has anyone ever had any issues with emissions here in Mass after installing them?

Emissions won't be an issue since MA is purely ODB-2 based. However, sound will be. State Troopers are extremely strict on sound levels since the law basically reads "anything louder than stock is illegal". Some local cops don't care, but some do.

    Ok,
Thanks for the confirmation and warning. I'm still running the Touring version, not the Track version, so it should be too loud.

I've been running catless systems in MA for over 6 years, between my B7 S4 & B7RS4, aslong as youre running software that delete any CEL's you'll be fine.

Ok. They are being delivers tomorrow. I think I can delete CEL's via Carista, but if they become problematic I'll prob go back to stock

I thought if u alter ur ecu not not give iff a cel for rear o2 you automatically fail?

I run o2 sensor spacers instead of altering my ecu. Works perfect on last 3 cars

If you run software that does not run monitors, you may get kicked to a MAC center for the state. If you do that they will go through your whole and make you put everything on the car back to stock. It is something you do not want to experience. If you run spacers the car should set readiness and no faults. You may have to try different spacers with angles and varying lengths, but it should work. My recommendation is to run spacers and verify that all your readiness codes have passed before getting a sticker. I check all my modified customers cars for readiness codes before a sticker is performed.

Now you guys are starting to scare me. If I already have an AWE exhaust on my B8.5 S4, and am just replacing the downpipes, am I going to have issues?

non res downpipes on the B8/b8.5 S4's still retain the cats
OP, not sure if you're implying issues with a visual inspection - not familiar with MA laws

If you get a friendly shop, it will pass inspection. However, if you get a strict shop, it will easily fail inspection because it's significantly louder than stock.

OBD-2 will pass anywhere because you still have cats even with non-res downpipes, but a visual/subjective inspection will fail, because it's loud. (MA law basically states cannot be louder than OEM)

The Audi dealer does inspections or will get your car inspected for you? I only ask because Audi Brookline does not inspect cars, but will take your car across the street to a local inspection station; it is out of Audi's hands in that scenario.

I ran into this problem moving here from SCal. I had APR Stage 2+ w/034 HFC and got flagged to MAC. Had to remove HFC and retune. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get my HFC back on because I can definitely notice the loss in torque. Any suggestions?

Understood. This is well known in MA and has been around for quite some time.

I have never had an issue with this and have had exhaust systems on every car I have owned. I got yelled at for straight pipes on my corvette (which was excessive) but no tickets of any kind. You will be fine with an aftermarket system.
