My little bro is currently living in Olivette, MO for the summer. His 99.5 audi a4 1.8t needs a new fuel pump. I live in Utah. I usually do all his mechanical stuff but can't while he is out there. I was wondering if anyone out there has a line on a good shop that wouldn't charge him too much to install a pump or if anyone would install it for him and we would pay you. I had a couple of shops out there quote me 600-700 to install the pump which is really easy to do. It would be cheaper for me to fly out there and install it then pay a shop at that price. Anyway figured I'd reach out on the forum and ask before I made any decisions. Thanks in advance!

fuel pump is really simple. if he has just a few basic tools he can do it himself. he may even come to realize he has a hidden ability(mechanic) that he never knew about

This is true. I am contemplating sending him the replacement pump with the tools to change it. I would still rather have a shop do it but only if I can get the price down. I will ship him the fuel pump and tools anyway. Only thing I worry about is this would be his first ever mechanical job and it is over an open gas tank.
