    ABS Module Gremlins

    Hi All,

    Long time, no see.

A few months ago I was getting an occasional ESP Circle & ABS light that would come and go. It was diagnosed as a failing ABS module. I sent it to Module Master and had them refurbish it. The module passed all of their tests in house. I reinstalled the module and it was pretty happy for a while. After 100 miles, the red flashing BRAKE light and ABS light came on and speedo dropped out as though there was no ABS module at all. Some miles later, they turned off. 50 miles later they were back on. ~50 miles later (not sure as when the speedo is out, the mileage counter stops) the lights are off.

When they're on, I get these codes when I do a readout:
18152-000 Tiptronic Recognition Switch (F189) Short To Ground
18259-000 Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message From ABS Controller
18034-163 Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message From TCU
00285-158 Right Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor - G45 - Not found
    01435-163 Brake Pressure Sensor 1 - G201 - Not Found
    01423-185 Transverse Acceleration Sensor - G200 - Not Found
    01826-163 Steering Angle Sensor - G85 - Voltage Supply Terminal 30 - Not Found
18256-035 Please Check DTC Memory of Engine Controller
18057-008 Powertrain Data Bus Missing - Message from ABS Controller

They all go away when the lights are off.

Seen anything light this before? I'm 99% certain that they refurbished my module and put all of the same components back in. I know these modules can have "conforming" issues if one gets subbed in from a different car. Could conforming be the problem?

    Thanks for any leads.

I know this seems basic but did you clear the codes that were stored before the repair once you re-installed your re-furbed module? I had the same symptoms you had but once I had mine repaired and put it back on and cleared the codes I have not had any issues pop back up. I did see a few of those codes until I cleared them once I re-installed my repaired module.

Not sure if re-coding to the car would cause these or not but unless you put the one in that came out of your car you will need to code it to your car. This should not be required if you replaced it back with the same unit that came out and was repaired.

Just a thought, I hope you figure it out.
