    My first car 1998 Audi A4 Quattro V6 2.8L 30V!

Hello fellow Audizine members, I'm new here & new to the car game in general lol. Just got my first my car, and it happens to be a...1998 Audi A4 Quattro V6 2.8L 30V! I love it to death, had it for about 3 weeks now. Her name is Goldie! Lol

I payed(wait for it)...$750! It has 150k miles on it, the previous owner was a female(yikes I know lol, she wasn't too bad with it though)...so the exterior has some dings & scratches. Mainly the rear bumper, we live in NYC...which is a bumpers nightmare lol. She gave it to me for that price I guess because she thought I was cute and it wouldn't start lol.

The lower door trim mouldings are completely off on one side and the front door lower trim moulding on one side is peeling. The interior is in awesome shape however. For $750 who's complaining? Lol.

So far I've just done a tint job on the windows, love the look but the shop I went to didn't really do a good job on the installation :(. Some scratches on the windows and air bubbles on the rear window...I was upset after I noticed them, but I've been living with it. I'm going to go back this week to see what they can do about it...

I also installed a new stereo myself, after blowing 2 fuses lol...I successfully got it done. The stock speakers are pretty good for now. The previous owner was going to get rid of it because she couldn't get it to start and thought it was transmission issues. When it was actually just the MAF sensor, I sprayed it with the special cleaner and boom! It started and all the engine error codes vanished. I obviously didn't tell her that though lol.

I'm not going to do any major modifications like turbo & etc. Just mainly cosmetic changes & maintenance. She has recently received an oil change, brand new tires, all fluid filled, passed inspection. Idles & drives beautifully! Any tips and education please send it all my way guys lol...thanks I'm a newbie

So here she is...I'll post more pictures later

    Peanut Butter interior :)

    my setup for now

Looking good my friend. Great pick up for $750. I would suggest trying a junk yard to find the black plastic door moldings or even Ebay for a new set. If I remember correctly, someone said they bought a new set of all 4 moldings for ~$100.

The 2.8 is a tank. Do your maintenance and she will run forever.

Thanks a lot, that site actually taught me something already...the paint color is located in the trunk by the spare tire. Awesome!

    Hey guys

Just a little update, I haven't gotten the chance to do too much as I started this new job recently.

But I put on the very much need new lower door moldings(lord those things make the car look brand new) I also ordered a touch up paint pen for the scratches on the bumper. Also got an engine & chassis wash...engine looks beautiful

I have a question, I'm really on the search for rims. I know the stock rims I have are 16", any help with what's a good size to put on/ restrictions? Would love exact dimensions if possible...

Also should that lower the car a bit with bigger rims? And how would I go about lowering it in general, remember I'm a noob guys lol

Time to start searching the forums (Audizine/vwvortex)/googling man, lowering and wheel fitment have been covered endlessly.

Get coilovers and lower on 17-18's

Maintaining a 12 year old Audi is about as expensive as Charlie Sheen's coke habbit.

Nice car! How do you like that Boss brand head unit? Does it sound better than stock? I have been considering one of those, but am a little skeptical that it might feel cheap or break.

As for wheels, If you live in NYC you might want to keep the stock 16s as they'll handle potholes better, but if your still keen on upgrading, you can fit 18s on there if you really want. Here is a pic of my car on 18" RS6 reps spaced 15mm all around on OEM sport suspension. I don't have any issues with rubbing.

Thank you! How did you even know I had the boss brand head unit? Lol, was it the year & model that gave it away? And yes it sounds really good, I'm kind of an audiophile and that's the first thing I noticed when I actually got into the car. How impressive the system is still to this day.

I definitely received compliments about it a few times. I plan on adding a subwoofer eventually just for more outside sound, but the internal speakers need not change.

With that being said your car looks awesome, I'm definitely looking into 17-18 inches. I know exactly what you mean about the stock rims & nyc potholes, I've definitely considered that. Just think the car would look even cleaner with some nicer rims lol

    Also would that be 225 45 18?

Thanks! , yeah iirc they're 225 45 18. I had 16s like yours and the new wheels definitely made the car look a little younger, people are usually surprised when I tell them the car is a 1999 now

I noticed you head unit was Boss because I saw the logo in one of your pics haha. It's not factory, your car would have come with a tape deck branded either "Audi Concert" or "Audi Symphony" based on whether or not you have the factory Bose speakers (there would be a small logo on your speaker grills). I'm a bit of an audiophile too so it's good to hear that the boss is a decent unit, I may have to pick one up now haha.
