I have a manual transmission and recently when disengaging from reverse the gear knob still seems in the 'pressed in' state, meaning i can slip back into reverse without pressing down on the gear knob. This doesn't happen ALL the time but its happened serval times last night whilst trying to park.

any insight on what might be causing this..... shifter collar ?
